All we hear is that 'they don't do it for the money' they do it 'for the children'.

WOW.
I just emailed all the members of the school board.. urging them NOT to give in.

I am rubbing my hands together at the thought of filing  a compelled speech complaint........just loving it! They will all be fined!

ravelkinbow

does anyone know anyone who has kids in the concord school system???

Dreepa

I just sent an email to people asking... (I mostly know people with young kids and two homeschoolers in Concord)

OK well don't give the teachers the heads up on the law yet, we need more screen shots as evidence first...then I will look up the law and craft and email.

I have put a call into Ed to see what we will do.

The problem with public school is trying to get the parents organized, half of them don't even know there child's teacher's name.   Anyway I just forwarded this to WMUR, Concord Monitor, and the School Board:

More examples as to how the teachers are hurting the kids, what the kids find when they try to view the webpages supplied by the school system to assist them.

6th grade teachers:
Mr. Loomis

Mrs. Dunford
http://www.csd.k12.nh.us/~ldufo/
Mrs. Anderson
http://www.csd.k12.nh.us/~tander/
Mrs. Berneche
http://www.csd.k12.nh.us/~jbern/
7th grade teachers

Mr. Anderson is the most blunt
http://www.csd.k12.nh.us/~tande/
Mrs. Casko
http://www.csd.k12.nh.us/~acask/
Mrs. Merrow
http://www.csd.k12.nh.us/~jmerr/

There are countless others that have simply stopped posting or wiped the pages clean..."good" teachers right??
If I ever thought that a teacher would not do something to intentional hurt a child, recent events have proven me wrong.

What I can't figure out is why this doesn't outrage more people.

If a teacher took out their job frustration on my kids I'd be calling for them to be fired... no rewarded with better pay.  Instead people fold to this kind of pressure and pay more.

And what's worse is the cycle this feeds... Concord pays more to their teachers, which in turn raises the average salary.  Now teachers in the next town over complain they are under paid.  They protest and wear the black arm bands as well.  People in town B fold to the pressure.  Now town C says they are under paid and it goes on and on and on.

Just once I'd love to see a town turn to teachers acting like this and say hit the road.  Ah but union contracts make it nearly impossible for teachers to be fired which is the catch here.

My town, Hopkinton, is using Concord as an example saying.... see we could have that nasty fight.... now give us our 8.75% school budget increase. :'(

Those refer to another case that was brought to court, but I am digging through them now.
We refer to the violation as 'compelled speech' but I am not sure the name of the law as it's printed! Ed would know but I can't reach him.
I sent email to my board members.

We have the evidence, I took screen shots.

Does anyone have the contact infromation for the Concord School Board?  We should be writing to them pointing out that they kind of blackmail doesn't just effect their own town but all NH towns.  We need to point out to them that using our children as pawns is not something that should be rewarded.

Now that's not saying teachers are wrong for asking for more money.. after all we all would love more money.  That's just human nature.  Nor is it saying they aren't worth the money... a great teacher who can have a positive impact on kids is well worth the money.  But all that said, A) people in general only have so much money to pay (which is all the more reason for competition in schools as great teachers can go to expensive schools and get paid what they are worth) B) not all teachers are great teachers and C) sometimes jobs have rewards other then pay, say like 14 weeks of vacation a year!

The problem is, they are not allowed to use school money/time/websites to promote that idea!
