Fasting for Peace
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How many knew there was a group that had come to Washington to undertake a 34 day liquids-only fast to end the U.S. war in Iraq?
Me neither.
Until I walked past "our" National Botanical Garden (entry predicated on a thorough body search and pass through metal detectors) and saw the group of somewhat haggard looking folks from the "Voices for Creative Non-violence" http://vcnv.org/ silently and peacefully holding up a sign advertising their efforts. Six days into their fast.
After giving them a thumbs-up they handed me a flier. I wished God's blessing on them and sadly walked on.
News coverage: zero.
Bombs away: next stop, Tehran...
Heroic effort. Kind of makes me feel like fasting isn't a very effective way to bring about change. But perhaps being THe NEWS in new hampshire, perhaps the Keene Free Press could have a couple paragraphs about them maybe? And perhaps it could be part of a collumn about non-violent-non-cooporation and perhaps how these methods could be used locally to resist the socialistic Keen citi government?
Hum. . . . I'm not much of a writer, but there's an idea.
That's cool I guess. What about the upcoming thing in Portland, OR that everyone is talking about?
...I kind of like violence...mostly toward dictators and Massachusets drivers...oh wait, they're the same thing, my bad.  *walks away whistling dixie*
I wonder if anyone from around here is part of it.
