While we are stirring up the marketplace of ideas pot...lets discuss Carl Drega...As a reporter for the Berlin Daily Reporter, the name Carl Drega made us shudder...us journalists...town selectmen...His anti-social tendencies were well-known...His mind-set feared...

Yes, they should have left the man alone. The tarpaper on his house was hardly reason to fine him.  But the foolishness of code officer didn't warrent Drega's responce: issung death sentences on a newspaper editor, a judge, and two policemen; and blowing apart of a small community...

He was mentally unstable...And I am thankful he did not have time to bomb the local school, as happened in a notorious case in Texas....

Your views?

Villian, this has been brought up before.

He's still dead. Likely to stay that way for some time I guess probly.
Good place for him.

He got at least one of lifes' two certainties right any way.

He's no less right and no more wrong than the government leeches who sucked the meaning, the enjoyment, and the goals of his life into the toilet.

If you can't enjoy your life - which you can't when government assholes and their standing army Stasi agents incessantly interefere in every facet of it - why live it?  It's worse than murder - the sterile, no-risk, no-fun, twilight half-sleep drudge mixed with worry and constant fear that they make most people live in.

Just because thousands of people weren't ready to follow when they heard that first shot fired in what I fear to be the 2nd American Revolution doesn't mean that he was any less right or more wrong than the folks who started the First one.

He did what he did.  The government finally pushed yet another man too far and they got what was coming to them.  I have as much sympathy for the people that he killed as for some stupid asshole that taunts a penned up animal at the zoo and gets clawed and bit to death.  When you make people live like animals, they will revert to their primal nature.  Tough shit if the animal's de facto master's don't have the simian intelligence to know that and leave well-enough alone.

People should stop worrying about Carl Drega and start worrying about who the next person will be - and the next - and the one after that.

The Newspaper Editor? Yeah, you're essentially correct. But the Cops and the Judge? Well, he really shouldn't have shot them either -- but that doesn't mean the cops and the judge didn't deserve it. They're government leaches who's entire livelyhood and paycheck come from parasiting off the tax-payers. The problem is that even though they did deserve it shooting them and killing them still wasn't the answer -- for obvious reasons. Did it make government get smaller? No. In fact it was probably used as an excuse to increase government. Did it stop them from coming after him? No.

So while deserved, it was also very foolish.

As I have said before, he had part of a good idea, but,  lacked stealth.

Regarding Mr. Dreagers demenor. How is it that he treated with his fellow man?
Too be sure we're overpopulated and todays crop seem's even less interested in taking care of the earth.
But is that any reason to be a complete asshole?
Lighten up dude. Enslavement after all is only a temporary gig.
Once your dead and free of earthly wants and needs liberation is final and complete.

It just seems that there must be more than one way to arouse the fire in the hearts of young Americans.
Being a total fuckhead is not one of them.
Like the old saw said, "You'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar."
