I have to get a new flat screen but I want to get one of those big mothas.  I have 3 monitors on my desk as it is.   :-\

My 17" ViewSonic is about 6 years old, and I didn't realize it had grown dim. But I downloaded a little freeware utility called Screen Cleaner Pro (for MacOS X; no idea if they have a Windows version). I ran it, and wow! It detects and corrects gamma settings on the monitor. It even corrected the color distortion from where one of the kids "drew" on the monitor with a magnet, and degaussing wouldn't remove it all. Everything is white and bright now.

Next, the anti-reflective/anti-glare coating was scratched up from the magnet. I'd been putting up with it for five years or more, working around it. There is a lot of conflicting advice about solvents and such that can be used to remove it. I tried several, with no luck. Finally I just scored around the inside of the bezel with a sharp knife, got underneath a corner, and peeled it off. (Warning: I peeled it right down to the glass. The shatter barrier is gone, too.)

With that, I had to adjust the brightness down quite a bit. I don't have a problem with reflections or glare. If I did, I'd buy some ARAG window film and apply it.

How about a 30 incher, at 2560x1600 resolution?

Note that the "small" one pictured is a 20 inch model. !!!
