This is the doc who got investigated for telling obese women they were obese; he's demanding his hearing be open to the public I guess.

Supreme Court says hearings on doctor complaints must be open

By Associated Press

CONCORD, N.H. - New Hampshire's high court says Board of Medicine hearings on complaints against a Rochester doctor must be open.

The Supreme Court last week denied the board's request to set aside a lower court's order for open hearings.

The board meets April 5 to discuss whether to hear arguments on the complaints against Dr. Terry Bennett.

Former patients say Bennett made inappropriate comments to them during medical examinations.

One former patient said Bennett told her she was so obese only a black man would be interested in her. Another patient with a neurological disease claims Bennett advised her to shoot herself to end her suffering.

Bennett's supporters say his tough talk has helped them shed pounds and improve their health.

The truth hurts.

If you don't want to be called fat then stop being fat.
Sure this doctor doesnt look very professional, but he isn't a criminal.

The truth hurts.

Nope. The truth never hurts. It's the refusal to accept the truth that hurts.   :)

I cannot believe that.

If I insult a client, they just move on and hire another guy.  The important thing here is that he was extended a special privilege by the government, a licence to practice that garranteed
him limited competition, providing him a larger income than he would have in a free market of medicine.  Now the powers that be are threatening to take that privilege away.  i don't care about this guy one way or the other.

i'm more sympathetic to the doc than u guys.  It's not his fault that the state required a license, or at least there is no evidence I have seen to indicate that he is somehow at fault for the existence of the present licensing system.

He benifits from it

I benefit from my paycheck. Doesn't mean I approve of the scope of the government. I wish the bulk of it, including my job, would cease to exist.

Despite where I work, I hope I'd get support for free speech.

I figured Lloyd would give Dr. Bennett some "professional courtesy" as a fellow cantankerous curmudgeon. ;)

It is hardly a free speech issue.  Obstensibly, he insults his customer, they walk, he loses their business.
But he is a licenced professional.  The government allied with the AMA says: Jump through these hoops, many of which are arbitrary and follow our rules and we will protect you from competition and garantee you a certain income.  Break these rules, we will pull your licence.

If anyone is under the illusion he doesn't benifit from his licence, see how well he does if he loses it.

I don't understand how anyone can, morally, continue working in a profession they say shouldn't exist, unless of course you are researching the cure for a disease and you'll be glad to be out of that job when a cure is found.

Of course you do otherwise you would just quit right now. You care how many people work at your sort of job and how much money they make. There is only one way to prove that you disapprove of big government.
People can talk, but do they actually do anything. You have the power to change something.

Tell me Lloyd, what have you learned in your 1,000s of years ???
