How do you post to the calendar without creating a new topic? bleh!  ;)

Michael Fisher

Hey, maybe we could make this a tuath meeting, too. :)

Kat Kanning

There's a button at the bottom of the posts "Link to calendar".

This meeting is coming right up on us. Does anyone have any ideas for any agenda items?

I think we need to work on a 2-year plan and we need to maximize our promotion to liberty-oriented individuals somehow. Maybe the Union Leader would run an article on the LSF.

Russell Kanning

If someone writes one up for us, we can run it in the Keene Free Press.

Michael Fisher

The LSF meeting was very productive. Thanks for buying me brunch for my birthday!  ;)

We're going to try a few novel strategies to broaden the LSF's reach and success without changing the core organization in any way.

I'm going to do my best to focus all of my activist efforts on the LSF.

I'll keep you updated on the progress. :)

Kat Kanning

Here are my sketchy notes from the meeting.  Feel free to ask for clarification on any of this.

Notes from 5/11/06 LSF Meeting
In attendance:  Michael Fisher, Cathleen Converse, Kat Dillon

Non-cash methods of donating:
People can donate partial ownership in a business

   Donate stock in a company

Do more homeschool private school outreach

Testimonials about how easy/rewarding it is to homeschool
Promote private school open houses
Reach out through:
   Newspaper
   Newsletter
   Events

Suggested event:
   It could raise funds
   Have speeches
   Not be huge
   Allow networking
Possibly a business after hours event for a new private school opening

Become a "membership organization", kick off membership drive at PorcFest or above suggested event.

Do:
   More networking
   Education freedom column
   Membership drive on webpage
Have homeschool and private school section in newsletter
Be a private school information clearinghouse
Provide general legal info for homeschoolers

For mailing newsletter, Netpost costs $.30/piece.

Provide a phone number to call for educational issues

Lecture series, or series of homeschooler info nights.

Kat Kanning

What will it take to add the membership ability to the website?  That would be a good thing to go into the first newsletter.  We can send out the newsletter to freestaters, homeschoolers, private schools, and maybe print them for libraries.

Pat McCotter

How would this be a member organization? What benefit accrues to membership?

Kat Kanning

It would be a member organization the same way the NHLA or CASPIAN is.  You get periodic info on how the org is doing, with perhaps requests for help.

Or can you think of some other benefit for joining?

Russell Kanning

or call it a mailing list ..... or you could charge PatMc to be a member. :)

Michael Fisher

Thanks for the notes, Kat! :)

We can also refer people to professional tutors in various areas for any given subject. That will get them involved with us. :)

It could be kind of a networking hub for homeschooling groups in that way too.
