Well what year and make is your Car?

Inspections didn't used to be so tough, but they're getting tougher on some things. Emissions standards will be part of the  inspection soon, and any structural rust can be a problem.
You could check the DMV website for the official standards, but in reality it will depend on who you go to for the inspection. No if you fail inspection the problems are reported, so you can't just go on to the next inspection station. There are some practical ways around things. Ask around before you get a vehicle inspected and find out who's easy on inspections. You might be lucky to find a guy who will ask you to "flash yor lights and honk your horn". Some people get ahold of the stickers and slap 'em on the windshield, but that may be a somewhat serious offense if you get caught, so I'm not going to advise doing that.

No rust? Haha, looks like my truck's not going to pass inspection in the future. It gets about 10 miles per gallon and the bed is very rusty. 92 F150.

Good thing inspection stickers cost less than political alliances, otherwise I might be sunk.

Lloyd Danforth

I taped over some rust holes and passed.

There can be rust, it just can't have certain structural implications. You can probably do what Lloyd did and just slap some bondo on it.

Happy Dude

But taping rust holes does not solve the safety issue.

And anyone that puts a sticker on a piece of crap the does not meet the standards should lose the right to inspect motor vehicles.

because rusted out shit boxes can jeperdize other peoples safety.

Hey dude,
How exactly are you planning on preventing anyone from inspecting motor vehicles? Further why are you in favor of inspections? And rusted out shit boxes are much more likely to "jeperdize" the driver than any other person. (i.e. if he isn't taking care of the muffler, is he changing the oil or balancing the tires? Is he having his brakes checked every 6 months? And if the muffler is rusty wouldn't the struts be rusty too, or the underside of the chasis?)
So in conclusion rusty shit boxes "jeperdize" the driver of the vehicle, not the random passerby.

P.S. It's spelled jeopardize. You can try m-w.com if you don't know a word, they usually help me by giving a long list of possible words, when I spell something wrong.

Tell you the truth I support  vehicle inspections and I also feel that they should be done every 6 months and not once a year like it is now.

I think we should do brake inspections every 2.5 months but only do smog inspections every year.

I disgree with the smog inspections. That they have because a car could fail without any problems at all.

Now brakes and rust, steering and other safety issues do need to be addressed.

How about a daily safety inspection at checkpoints along the major roads?
I mean that would be safe.  Also think of how many people we could employ?  I tcould solve unemployment and car safety in one stop shopping.
