I don't know the history of Carla and the FSP, but my first thought was that she wanted help/money/activism in MA.

Yes, very good point there. Problem is she will be asked some tough questions that she isn't going to like at all! I have heard JP's story of his run-in with her too. This will be an interesting thing to see.

Hi All ..

First of all, two unrelated issues:

1.  > Welcome to the forum, muni!

  Thank you !!

2. Way to go, Joel !  5-0 at the committee !  For me, this is Joel's victory.
He did the research, printed flyers, set up the rally, coordinated
volunteers, told us what to do and spent countless hours on stuff that
I don't even know. Joel is a leader, our HB1582 leader.

Carla Howell is that kind of a leader. She sets up goals and inspires us
to achieve them. She is also - among many other things - an excellent organizer
and project manager and she is very good in amalyzing situations and opportunities.

In the late 1990 I was the New England regional representative to the
Libertarian National Committee. I visited New Hampshire many times (I didn't
live here at the time) and I think that I understood the libertarian scene here,
at least somewhat.

With the FSP in place, things are different now, I think. Seems like something
is going on in New Hampshire, so I asked Carla Howell to come here and meet us.
She will share her views with us, we will share ours with her and I think that
all of us will benefit from it. I know I will.

I think that the agenda should be a 20 minute presentation by Carla Howell and
than Q & A. Bring all your tough questions - post them here if you can't attend -
and let's see what she has to say. Years of dealing with the Massachusettes media
is a good preperation to our tough questions. Don't be offended, though, if she
has tough questions to us. Carla Howell tells things the way they are - she is
a Libertarian, after all ...

ok - enough talking. Sandy, I'll video tape the event so you won't miss a thing.
I have a wireless microphone for the main speaker - does anyone have a wireless
microphone (and a stand?) for the questions?

Thanks ..

muni .

I've heard she's anti-FSP.  Plus, no one at the Center for Small Government will return my emails offering them national exposure on my show.

Russell Kanning

She was boring. I wished she was not speaking at the meeting.

Caleb

Terminally boring!  Actually, I REALLY enjoyed Don Gorman for a change.  He only spoke 4 minutes, it was fiery, and it got Carla Howell scowling far more than most of the questions.  Kudos to Seth for asking why she isn't joining FSP.

She has too many reasons to stay in the tax state.

Was it videotaped?
Did she have anything interesting to say?

Yes it was videotaped and I don't want to see it again, she didn't have anything to say that was valuable.
I kepted waiting for a how they did something cool and only heard "what would Harry Browne do"  over and over and over again

d_goddard

We came in partway that "20 minute" talk, and just the bit we heard lasted well over half an hour. How did you people stay awake?!?!

I tried to explain to her that Seth and Joel asking her to come to NH was a compliment, and asked what it would take to get her up here. She answered for a really long time, but did not actually answer my question. At all. Even obliquely.

I think she thinks she is going places in national politics. I say, good luck to her, she's gonna need it.

And yes, Don Gorman's speech was, as expected F---ING GREAT!.
Don can really rally the troops; his "emotion" speeches are a thing of beauty.
