Isn't there a rule that they have to put in the papers ahead of time where the checkpoints will be?

Atlas

This sucks for NH. Mich does not allow dwi checkpts. This needs to be changed for real. This just makes me sick. Criminalizing blood-alcohol content is about as proactive and effective as the war on terror.

Atlas

This shows no respect for NH citizens.

Lunacy. (The rule, not you!)  None of my accidents have been caused by alcohol, and I've driven under the influence more times than I've been in accidents.  (Although I did give up driving under the influence as my new year's resolution for 2005)

Yes ,there is.

"We want the public to know that we are going to be out there trying to arrest them,"

Taken out of context, the clear meaning of this quote becomes obvious.

Republidog

We have the privilege of these here in PA.

Get ready for questions like

"any guns or drugs in your car?"

"can we search your car?"

"what do you have to hide?"

"where are you going?"

"where are you coming from?"

"can you please step out of the car?"

"can I see your license?"

"can I see your registration and insurance?"

They like to set them up at 5pm in the afternoon here, as if that's when the most drunks are out.

Yep

Nope

Nothing

Quote

None of your business

Quote

None of your business

Quote
"can you please step out of the car?"
Why?

Quote
"can I see your license?"
Sure

Quote
"can I see your registration and insurance?"
Registration, sure. Insurance, no.

They have to tell us when and where and why they're setting them up.

Dreepa

Pat I am going to print this out as a reference and put it in my glove compartment.   :)

Yessir.

"can we search your car?"
Not without a warrant, signed by a judge, supported by your oath that you suspect I am in the commission of a crime. In other words, I do not consent.

"what do you have to hide?"
All sorts of stuff that you don't need to know about right now. For example, I once stole a newspaper from the pharmacy. Also, my nudity.

"where are you going?"
Where are you going?
OR
Down this road I'm on.

"where are you coming from?"
That stretch of road you saw me pull up here on. Where are you from?

"can you please step out of the car?"
It's so much nicer talking to you from down here.

"can I see your license?"
I've got a few. My CCW license? Oh, the one for driving.

"can I see your registration [removed insurance since they don't ask in NH]?"
Okay. This is my second cousin thrice removed's car, actually. He's Swiss.
OR
I don't know, you aren't blind or something are you?

I do not condone responding in any such manner to a peace officer.  :P

Ron Helwig

"Do you know how fast you were going?"
Obviously not fast enough!  >:D

Well Sir I guess I was the only one going slow enough for you to catch. ;D

*grabs weapon* Sir, place your hands where I can see them. *radios for backup*

Quote

Nope

Please step out of the vehicle

Quote
"what do you have to hide?"
Nothing

Then certainly we can search your car.

Quote
"where are you going?"
None of your business

Please step out of the vehicle

Quote

None of your business

Please step out of the vehicle

Quote
"can you please step out of the car?"
Why?

Please step out of the vehicle or I will be forced to remove you. It's for both of our safety.

Quote
"can I see your license?"
Sure

Thank you, slave. *scans barcode*

Quote
"can I see your registration and insurance?"
Registration, sure. Insurance, no.

Thank you slave. *keys in registration*

3 line blurbs in the  back of the newspaper or a small post on their website, expect them weekly.

These are all the response we get here (except for the "thank you slave" which was for theatrical amusement  ;)), I have had them call out K9 teams to threaten to search my vehicle because I refused.

Dreepa

What are the laws on 'setting out of the vehicle'?
