Hey ravel, maybe you should just stay out of threads where you disagree with people, since you seem to have a tough time with it.  I don't see many personal attacks around here, just people disagreeing about immigration, which happens to be the most misunderstood issue in American politics today.

Where's the "anti-faith" comments you refer to?  Caleb has "faith", and I'm an atheist, yet I'm defending him on the immigration issue because he's absolutely right.  I'm really not sure who you're referring to with your labeling, but I see that most of us areligious people get along just fine with those of you with "faith".  It's just not important around here, from what I can tell.  Maybe these posts you're referring to just don't jump out at me.

Hey Ian,

The written word is very powerful, and how you use it is even more powerful.
Perhaps you don't even realize it, but many of your posts are condesending,
and insulting.  Don't have time to go through all the posts, but just one example:

Your response to Janie on page 4.  I quote, "The difference between us and you is principle."
Man dude, that is insulting!  The way I see it you are saying Janie has no principle, and man
you don't even know the gal!  And the crap about spelling, come on?

As I see it no one has all the answers and a healthy exchange of ideas and even disagreement
is good for us all, but not insulting your fellow freedom fighter is never appropiate.

my 2 cents

Thanks for the thoughts Dave, I was responding to a very condescending post by Jane, where she suggested that Caleb was ignorant because he was young.  Ageism is repulsive to me.

Methinks some people take message boards way too seriously.  As I've said before, I'm sure Jane is a very nice lady, but that doesn't excuse her from being responsible for taking pro-government-control positions like advocating closed borders.

If you want closed borders, you are not applying principle, and I will call you out.  I consider closed borders an insult to Liberty.

I'd also like to point out that there are two sides to this "insulting" equation.  Jane's response to the open borders crowd is always that she knows something we don't and that we should "get a clue" and "do research", because the UN is going to take us over!  I find her suggestion that we're ignorant (and she does it over and over again) very insulting, but I've never complained about it, just rebutted it.

There are posts and they may not jump out to you because they are anti-christian most of the time and don't catch your eye as an atheist.  I am sure if they where anti-atheist they would draw your attention.  That is true for me as well.  I am sure I catch those statements more often than I would others.

I could have sworn you said you didn't make errors....LOL

What is basically being said, by others and not just me, is that we can debate without insults.  It is clear that I am not the only one that is seeing some of the posts as insulting and not needed.  Telling me to stop posting is a childish response and not the answer.  Agree to disagree and move on.

FTL_Ian

"Methinks" is a word, and no I never said I didn't make errors, just that I proofread to keep them at a minimum.

Forums are always going to be a place where tensions flare, and a few insults are hurled.  I think we happen to have a pretty good forum here.  If the worst insult around here is "you're unprincipled", then it seems to me that things aren't so bad.

No one is cursing at each other and ad hominems are rare.  If we agreed to disagree, things would get dull!

Finally, I never "told" you to "stop posting".  I simply suggested you stay away from heated threads, as it seemed that you were getting quite bent out of shape over them.  No need to induce unnecessary stress.

Take it easy, it's just a forum.   ;D
