There is room for computer people in Keene that really know their stuff. What do you know how to fix or build?

I was in Army basic training for about 3 months until they decided to kick me out after finding out I lied about having a prior history of mild asthma on my military records.  They gave me stuff to take but then take their good old time to kick me out.

I was glad they kicked me out.  Having them yell "What makes the green grass grow" and reyplying "blood, blood, blood" wasn't my idea of a good time.  I also wonder what kind of drugs they pumped me with at the beginning of basic.  I almost passed out.  I think at least 16 shots all at once.  If I was paranoid enough I would think they where mind controlling drugs.

I'm on the first 1,000. :)  Look for the name Nathaniel Dube

Basic PC repair stuff most people usually have problems with.  I bought the parts from the internet and built a computer for my dad.  So upgrades, installations of PC hardware.  I can also diagnose most Windows problems.  Though due to the headaches of constantly fixing windows systems I've now switched to Linux.  Macs are the only thing I'm not that familiar with.  I'm also some what good at data retrieval, as long as you haven't over written the data.  If it's physical damage to the hard drive then you're pretty much on your own. ;)  I also have a fairly good amount of knowledge with setting up small home or business networks (wired and wireless).  Playing with computer's has been a hobby since the age of 15 when my dad gave me some old laptop from 1993 with DOS on it..  I can clean out viruses, spam, spyware and other crap like that.  But then your system is probably screwed all ready and Windows has to be reinstalled.  But then with the DRM on Windows you're probably screwed even more if you have to re-install Windows.  That activation crap in Windows XP is a real pain in the ass.  So now I try to recommend open source solutions to every one I meet.  Like Firefox instead of IE or Gaim instead of the default AIM and Yahoo software.

After hearing about most of the things going on up there in Keene I think I'll move there.  And for the fact they have the Keene Free Press.

If any one wants to talk to me some more and find out more about me you can email me at njdube at gmail dot com.

Welcome to the underground!

I understand being eager to get to NH. We've been working on it for almost two years. We've got a couple more years to go. Go now, while you're young, single, no kids, and no mortgage!

And yeah, I understand about Texas.  >:(

Young: Check
Single:  Check :(
No Kids:  Check and Check :)
No Mortgage:  Check Check and Check

Now I just need to find a (getting paid under the table) temp job and earn up enough to move.  The only thing I would bring is clothes and maybe a new laptop I might buy.  What would be neat is to rent from a fellow porcupine.  Then they'll understand why I wont give them my SSN and such.

Also, what part of Texas are you from?  I've lived in Bryan, Arlington, San Antonio and north of Austin.  I've also lived west of Phily for about 5 years.  I'm an Army brat so I moved a lot.

How's your Spanish? Can you nail shingles or work concrete?

I'm not "from" Texas, I just live here. I'm just outside Texarkana.

To mis-quote Douglas MacArthur, "I was born in New Hampshire while my parents were vacationing in Arkansas!"

NH is my home. Never been there, but I look forward to going home.

What about that Labor Ready place?  One guy showed up here and had a job the next day through them.

Unemployment is fairly low in New Hampshire right now.  Save up some money, come for PorcFest, don't leave.  Or if you want to come earlier, the Shorty Dawkins 'We want Kate to pick a damn date' Jamboree, which starts June 19th.

When you get to Keene you could advertize in our paper by getting us some good articles and/or selling advertising for us. :)
Then you can fix peoples computers at their locations.
No ssn, no office :)

I can't speak a word of Spanish.

In high school I had a home electronics class where we did home wiring and built in door walls.  Some one forgot to turn off the breaker when I started to tare the wires up.  That shit hurts.  I've never done shingles or concrete but I'm sure it would be something new and fun to learn.  I've installed selling fans in this house when we moved here.  No one taught me, I just read the directions and used common sense.  I also installed cable and phone jack outlets in some of the rooms by splitting the lines and cables in the addict.  The builders seemed to forget some things.

I'm also pretty good at changing tires and the oil in a vehicle and the brakes depending on the car.  I can also install some stuff in cars like radios, CB's, etc.

I'm like Indian Jones, I just figure shit out along the way.  Or I read the directions.

But doesn't it take some time to actually find a place to live? I was looking for 2-3 weeks, with no luck at all. Then I had my accident :(

I can't speak a word of Spanish.

I asked because you want to make cash, without being on the SSN/IRS books. That means "casual labor", and construction is the only way to do that easily.

Being in Texas, you understand the value of Spanish fluency in that labor market.

I'll make you an offer: get yourself and your stuff to Texarkana in the week before we leave for ShortyFest, and I'll give you a ride to NH. One-way only; if you ride to NH with me, you're staying there.

PM if you want, or reply here. It's a serious offer.

All depends upon your limitations. We have lived in 2 different apartments. The first we took after spending three days looking at 5 apartments and the second, we took on the first day of looking. Neither was perfect, but both were acceptable.
