Main thread for Ed and Elaine Brown vs the evil IRS

I switched on mainstream news on the tv about 6 times in the past hour and nothing about this at all, like cnn, msnbc, fox news.  I'll go check again but it's weird isn't it?  This should be headline news already.

I would think WMUR would be covering it.

From their web site:
"Monier also said that as part of the investigation of the Browns, they encountered a Brown supporter near the property Thursday morning and detained him. Monier has said anyone aiding the Browns is subject to arrest."

Great idea for a protest after reading this one... simply show up with a sign saying "I support the Browns" or "I'm aiding the Browns" or something to that effect and see if they arrest you.  Then turn it into a free speech issue.

Not by their standards... there's nothing to show.  Media is being blocked from the area.

Is anybody going over there?  I don't know how far Campton is from there and I can't go until the kids come home because I don't want to bring them.
I can bring my camcorder but I have to wait for the kids and get directions.  I know I wouldn't be able to get to close but I want to do something.

Federal authorities indicated today they are not raiding the Plainfield property of tax evaders Ed and Elaine Brown.

The U.S. Marshal's Service says a supporter of the fugitives was detained near the Browns' home this morning and that they served a federal warrant to seize Elaine Brown's dental office in Lebanon.

 "We are here, in conjunction with authorities, from the Department of the Treasury, to serve that warrant," the statement said.

"As we have said from the beginning, we will continue to communicate with Ed and Elaine Brown to convince them to surrender peacefully."

All of that hardware and manpower just for the dentist's office?  Yeah, right.

The video just has a reporter standing in front of a state police roadblock with the reporting saying that he doesn't know anything at all.

Kat Kanning has reported in from plainfield at 2pm 6/7

she says the feds came to seize the commercial property
but that they apparently were also doing a recon on ed's home property.   One of ed's supporters discovered them while walking a dog and has been detained and questioned.   He is still detained I believe. 

A separate source told me the person detained was "Reno."
  I don't know the guy's full name.  I understand he'd been staying at the brown's a lot and was out walking his dog.  apparently the dog came back but Reno went missing.

That's true.  I was kind of young when Waco occurred but I seem to remember they had live coverage of that, am I right?  If I am what makes this so different, no live coverage allowed?

You would think that the fact that they were being denied access would enflame their little journalistic hearts.  I guess it's sexier to embed with Central American rebel groups and military units in Iraq than something so domestic like this.

I would say no...they probably won't do any violence to you, but they might put you in jail or something.

It's different because of Waco.  They learned their lessons at Waco.  Media coverage leads to nasty things like viral videos, federal manslaughter charges...  You know - bad press.
