Yup, that's all I've been reading about on the independent news sites of course.  I have to stop listening to Alex Jones, he's scarying me. He keeps saying, "As we stand on the brink of WW3".  It's bad enough that it may go there but I don't think I want to spend everyday thinking, oh my gosh, what are we going to do, and numerous other paranoid thoughts. I need to learn to stay informed instead of staying scared.

raineyrocks, I recommend that you read my posts in this thread, maybe they will inspire you to stop listening to AJ and do something more productive with your time instead:

Yes, I suggest we all consult Lex on the proper way to spend our time.

QuoteIn summary, put down the conspiracy book and pick up a book on science, farming, philosophy, art and any other subject which has a productive outcome. Politics and conspiracy theories are not productive.

Thanks Lex, very interesting!  Reading the entire thread gave me alot to think about, being 100% truthful with myself.  Perhaps somehow listening to Alex gives me comfort because I think that, "oh good someone else is taking on the fight so I really don't have to worry". I would say that puts me in a pretty "useless" state of thought because then I don't do anything that I want to do as an individual.  I'm too busy relating to someone on the radio with a group of people that call in and support what he's saying.
Something that you wrote really got to me and that is, "what have you done differently since "learning" about these conspiracies?" (I might not have your words totally right but it's basically what you asked).  My answer is a big fat nothing at all except give up about 3 hours of my day, my life, to listen to someone on the radio.
I have plenty of books I haven't been reading either and interests I want to pursue, some for fun. Actually in those 3 hours I could do alot. I'm not saying I'll never listen to the Alex Jone's show again but perhaps more ocassionally (sp?) not daily.
Thanks Lex, that was more helpful than you know. :)

Rainey,

1. Set some productive goals.

2. Define some activities that move you toward those goals.

3. Make sure you do some of those things EVERY day.

Hint: Include quiet time/meditation/entertainment as a necessary activity to maintain positive attitude and avoid desperation.

It really isn't hard to feel you are doing the best you can and have no regrets. And (to use a word that I absolutely abhor) it is proactive instead of reactive.

Alex Jones is hoping that we can somehow get the right guys elected like Ron Paul and Badnarick and fix it all. I hope he can transition to civil disobedience soon. :)

Thanks Cathleen, that's exactly what I want to do and need to do.
I am going to the school board meeting in Campton Monday so that is my first step to getting "out there".  I'm nervous and have tried to find excuses not to go because I'm not sure I'll understand it but I've gotten really good advice and I'm making myself go and I am going to take notes and look up anything I don't understand.
I want to set up a little wildlife habitat in the woods as a personal hobby, (I hope bears don't like it though), I got a large dog house from the dumps to start that.
I got alot of Thich Nhat Hanh books about stillness and meditating so I have that too.
Bottom line is I have to start doing these things instead of dreaming about them! ;D

Every night as you retire, review to yourself what you did that day that moves you closer to your goals. If you find that it is usually nothing, then your choices need reviewing. You may have loaded up your life with gotta haves and gotta dos that aren't in line with what is really important to you.

burning flags is much more fun than board meetings

Sounds pretty damned accurate to me.  Where do I sign and where do I send it?
I was volunteering at my kid's school last week, (I know, how could I send them to school?, I'm an ass and am going to see about re- homeschooling them), and the women stood up for the pledge of allegiance, I just sat there and ignored it.  I'm not going to pledge my allegiance to anything I don't believe in.  There was a time when I would just go along because I didn't want to be looked at as a "weirdo" but I don't give a crap anymore; being honest to myself is more important than what people think of me.

Ahh, the pledge.  Written by a nazi to impose socialism on America.
