For this crowd I will skip the arguments about why this is a bad idea.
I've started a pledge to burn a flag on the 4th of July if this amendment passes.

Right on.

If the amendment passes, keep in mind it will need to be ratified by x number of states (30 something I think), before it becomes constitutional law.

2/3 x 50 = 34

dirk

2/3 x 50 = 34

Nope!

2/3 of house
2/3 of senate
3/4 of state legislatures

.75 x 50 = 37.5 ergo 38 states needed to pass

There weren't 34 red states in the last election, we have hope!
Red State Blue State.  I can never remember which is which.  Don't the networks change color every few years?

Red State for redneck conservatives in the South . . . Blue State for blueblood liberals in Massachusetts.  :D

But who decided the colors?

I remember in past elections... the color was reversed.

I couldnt help but laugh today when my half-libertarian half-centrist half-liberal friend (he's got 1.5 personalities I guess) argued that this amendment was unconstitutional.

...

Yup, he did indeed.

edit- I'm a bit "drunk" on vicodin from surgery today so pardon if ive got like, misspellings or I ramble, because my mother said I was slurring and I cant even tell.

The biggest area will always be red, and the smaller area will be blue. Try it with the colors reversed... smaller red states on a big blue background will be a blurry purple blob.

Simple graphic artist way of doing things.

It failed in the Senate, 66-34 (one vote short).

The best line I heard in the debate was (paraphrasing): "We shouldn't stop desecration of the flag by desecrating the Constitution!"

:clapping:

(On the other hand, I think it was delivered by John Murtha, who has pretty much proven himself lately to be an idiot and a partisan hack. Oh, well. Credit where it's due.)
