Demise of the LP - time for an Independence Party?

I was thinking that, since the LP gutted itself of all its principles, is it time for a new political party, kind of like the LP (moral principles), except also rolled into a secessionist platform.  We could call it "New Hampshire Independence Party".  Kind of like what Alaska's got going on.

That would be cool.

However, If the State LP stays true to libertarian principles (didn't the NHLP disassociate from National awhile ago?) it probably won't be neccessary.

No, it has a long ways to go.  We have much work to do.

I still say that libertarianism transcends political parties.

Here are some new ideas:

The NHLP doesn't exist. They are running as Ds and Rs.
I like the independence party idea.

Historically, third parties have never been very effective in the modern U.S.  Other things have.  So I will be doing other things.  I say go where the results are.  Civil disobedience, infiltrating the major parties, generating publicity....those things are actually doable and have shown some results.   Third party stuff rarely has.

I think doing third party stuff is exactly what the authoritarians out there would like to see us do.  Their system is designed to absorb and dissipate such efforts.  One liberal guy in NH once complained to me that he couldn't stand all the civil disobedience things we were doing and that we should instead collect half a million dollars and spend it on a high minded run for president.   NH Dictacrat party chair sullivan is also attacking libertarians for their infiltration activities.  They attack these things because these things are effective and threaten their rule.  They do not attack third parties because third parties are harmless.

The goal of the New Hampshire Independence Party is NOT to win elections.  It is to publicize the secession platform and to ensure that when people think of secession, they think of LIBERTARIAN ideals.  No sense seceding, and then jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire by having a bunch of socialists install tyranny here.

The idea is to grab the corner on the secession market, so to speak, so that when this happens, it happens right.  Eventually, people will get fed up with the fedgov, and secession will start to seem appealing.  We want to have a place where they can turn.  They'll be much more likely to acknowleging our principles if the two concepts (independence and libertarianism) are intricately linked in their minds.

Yes, I still plan on maintaining my affiliation with the Democrat party, and I believe that there is much that can still be done within the two party system, Dave.

Exactly. Secession will happen. That much is inevitable. THe U.S WILL implode just like the Soviot Union. Our goal, is to make sure that when secession does happen, it's a libertarian secession.

There was an article recently in the Wall Street Journal about secession. The author didn't want it to happen, but he sees it coming within the next 50 years. Our job is to speed up the process.  ;)

I don't suppose you have a link or title for that article . . . .
