Today over at LRC I have an article (http://lewrockwell.com/lora/m.lora27.html) where we suggest some ideas about how to increase local liberty. I thought it woud be interesting to post it here since NH seems like a place where these ideas would be receptive (libertarianism, Free State Project, etc.).

Good article. It makes me think of Russell.  ;)

Digg is dumb.  I put it on Reddit:  http://reddit.com/info/9wwx/comments

Reddit is dumb. I read the article and enjoyed it.

The article has some interesting points in it, but I'm thinking more and more each day that the only way to get NH secession might be to overthrow the state government. And I can only see that argument dying within the realm of libertarian philosophical discussion.

With every day the people demand more and more socialism, more and more from the government... and like any moneymaking business, it reacts to demand...

Well, I wasn't talking about NH in particular, or anything in the very near future. The overall point, that perhaps I didn't make clear enough is that at some point, let's say this century, earlier half hopefully, we're going to see some breakage of the US and perhaps the EU. This will be due, in my opinion, to inflation, debt, and the overall burst of socialist tendencies over the last 100 years. Anyway, under those circumstances, separation of towns and cities into smaller, more autonomous and yes, even independent mini-nations, would be feasable. And it's under those circumstances that groups that have banded together under a more or less freedom-minded mentality can have a nice time living in a freeer society. Whether this lasts long I don't know or care at this point.

All I'm saying is that in the long-term, it would be good to have a bunch of folks together that know about freedom and economics and that when the time is right, that they can take advantage of that.

How do you propose to do that?

Perhaps local city governments are going to need to start seceding, nullifying, and ignoring NH tate edicts on their own. Then the NH government would simply implode.  Perhaps that should come first before NH secession. (Of course, if all the cities or counties or towns seceded NH wouldnt even exist. Perhaps we'd have 13 or more independend soveran countries in what used to be  state in the union in what used to be New Hampshire.

Planning and man power. I'm not proposing we do it in any capacity yet. I'm just saying it may be the only way to really be heard. When we aren't living in a system where everyone has a voice, we are living in a system where we can not peacefully win a battle for liberty.

But the problem is that the state police will continue to enforce state law, unless we created an environment of such confusion that some would, some wouldn't, and nobody exactly knew what to do.
