I'm right back to where I was in 1993....
No way! You are much wiser now ;)

A spoonful of freedom helps a crappy situation become more tolerable.
So true.
And... sooner or later life gives everyone a big shake-up. The only question is whether we let it drag us down, or use it as a giant opportunty, a chance to forge a better future for ourselves.

Yes, exactly....I couldn't agree more.  Even though these are not the circumstances under which I had planned to move to NH, the situation will get me there sooner than expected.  Just a matter of looking on the bright side and doing what ya gotta do....

It looks like a deal has finally been arranged with finding a place to live, and I will be arriving in NH on August 8th.  My arrangement is contingent on passing a personal interview of some sort immediately upon arrival....I see no reason for this to be a dealkiller, but nonetheless I am somewhat nervous about it, as I do not have any sort of backup plan in place, and am jumping without a net, so to speak.  Anyways, I will be landing just outside of Manchester.  Since I am arriving with virtually nothing, will be lucky if what little money that I have gets me through two weeks of gas and groceries, and the woman I'm divorcing is refusing to allow me to take any sort of household supplies, I am asking if anyone in the Manchester area is willing to donate any of the household items that I will need:

Furniture: bed, table, chair, dresser, desk, etc.
Bedding: sheets, blankets, pillow, matress, etc.
Bathroom items: towels, bathmats, toilet brush, plunger.
Dishes: anything I will need to cook and consume a meal.
Computer: anybody have an old one that they're tossing out?  The one that I have is an old 486 machine that is pretty well useless these days.
Color TV: anybody have an old one that they're tossing out?  The one that I have is an old 9" black and white set.

If anyone can help with donation of used household items (especially furniture / bedding / bathroom items / dishes), that would be much appreciated....I don't care if any of the stuff is well-worn, as long as it's serviceable and will perform the intended function.  I have a small pickup truck, and can pick these items up in the Manchester area.  I will quickly become a regular at the area thrift stores (where are the best ones?), but will need to stretch my remaining money as far as possible until I can obtain employment and get a paycheck.  If anyone can help out, please let me know.  It should go without saying that I will repay the favor by helping someone else in a similar way who is arriving in NH under similar circumstances at some future point....  Again, a huge thanks to all of you who have offered their help, suggestions, encouragement, and have taken the time to write.  See you all next week!  I can't wait to unstrap that damn seatbelt as soon as I cross the state line.....*smiles*.....

You should still wear your seat belt ;) It helps from flying through the windshield and several other types of situations... Does your truck have airbags? If not, then the seatbelt becomes your only means of protection.

Where is he?  I know he said somewhere near Manch.

I have stuff for him, when he wants it. He knows where we are, or maybe we could bring it to him.

ok, I've landed safely here in NH, and am slowly getting set up.  Again, a huge thanks to those who have helped!  I'm having problems getting online, so am typing this from a library.....on my way now to buy a new modem, hopefully that will solve the problem....more later on this front.  Started faxing out resumes, hopefully employment will come through for me soon.  All seems to be going well so far, but getting out of my old place in PA was a major problem with the volatile divorce scenario....I'm just glad to be here.

Kat, I'll have to keep an eye on that craigslist....seems like that will become quite useful.....
