I need to get rid of my motorcycle because I cannot afford to keep it.  It is currently in storage in Manchester, and I have no way to pick it up.  My landlord doesn't allow motorcycles on the property.  I am behind on the storage fees, so if someone is interested in it, I'll let a free stater or friend have it if they pay the storage fees that are owed.  I have some extra parts and manuals at home that will go with it if you want them.  All I want is the licence plate back.  The front end (forks, headlight, etc.) are from another Suzuki.  The carbs need to be cleaned.  I put preservative in the tank before putting it into storage.  I replaced the battery and voltage regulator before putting it into storage.  It has some aftermarket parts, like the mirrors, turn signals, and grips.  I think I owe a little over $200 in storage fees.

That is so sad.  I'm sorry.

Your landlord won't allow motorcycles on his property..?!  What's that all about?

Wish I was there. I'd take you up on it.

I wasn't a big Suzuki fan in 1982, but they were pretty solid motorcycles.

He doesn't like noise, and no matter how much I try to explain to him, he doesn't seem to believe that some motorcycles aren't loud.  He's a stubborn old coot.  I've been studying accoustics on my own, and plan to eventually try to design and build a motorcycle muffler that looks like straight pipes, but makes the exhaust as quiet as your average new car.  I think it's possible, but due to federal and state regulations, R&D is much more costly and less likely to pay off than it could be.  For some strange reason, I haven't gotten any complaints about my 6 hp air compressor, which is louder than the motorcycle was.

Don't tell him.  Gah, that galls me.
Anyhow, loud pipes save lives.  But if your motorcycle isn't loud, then...

Only from someone running you over from behind. Loud pipes aren't noticeably loud in front of the motorcycle, which is where the danger lies.

Otherwise, they just piss a lot of people off who then demand anti-motorcycle legislation.

My motorcycle is also very quiet, but when I'm driving through town and notice someone about to pull out onto the street and run me over (a very common occurrence), hitting the clutch and revving my motor high and fast catches their attention. I've had drivers in cars wave at me in thanks as I go by.
