We had to miss the hike earlier in the year, so how about we try again when the leaves start changing?

11:00 Sunday September 24th

I'll post details on where to meet later.

No, no, no!   :'(  That's the day of the Winchester Pickle Festival!!!! Come one, come all! Parade at 10, craft vendors, rock climbing wall, pickle judging, international pickle anything contest (judged by the fairgoers who pay a couple of bucks to be tastetesters/judges), entertainment, helicopter rides, food, etc.

The Pickle Fest is on the permanent Fairs and Festivals special listing page on the Liberty Calendar.
That might be a good weekend to FINALLY get out to see my girls (and boys) in the Keene area!

I changed it to Sunday so Dawn would quit whining :)

Pat K

Sounds like a case of sour pickle's

Kat Kanning

It was one dill-y of a whine.

Lloyd Danforth

The event is 'bread and butter' for some Winchester folks.

Pat K

I am really starting to Relish this thread.

KBCraig

Pat, go back to jerkin' your gherkin.

Dreepa

Will there be a pickle chugging contest?

KBCraig

Will there be fried dill pickles?

Pickle-Os, as Sonic calls them. Or just plain ol' "fried dill pickles", as they were called in the place they were invented, the Wolf Drive-in in Atkins, Arkansas (once known as the pickle capital of the world), 30 miles down the road from where I went to college.

Fried pickles sound disgusting. But dip some hamburger dill chips in cornmeal batter, quickly deep-fry them, dip in ketchup.... YUMMM!   ;D

Kevin

Pat K

Probably help if you wrap some Bacon around them.  :)

Wouldn't hurt. And don't forget beer. That's the reason we went to Conway County in the first place: beer. Redneck Arkansas Tech is in Pope County, which is dry. A very ridiculous thing for a college town.

I guess every student that drinks gets a firsthand lesson in governmental intrusion.  Those dry counties in the Midwest only do one thing....drive business elsewhere!
