End Marijuana Prohibition Rally, Let's get active.

From other discussions on this and other discussions it seems most people on this board and accordingly vast numbers in the public believe that pot should be legal. There has been some talk of having some sort of a rally/protest at the head of the square in Keene. I know that some people don?t like protesting, but I think that there are enough of us who do, and enough pot advocates, who would stand up and get active.

The city of Keene will give permits if done in advance. Given that there will be hundreds of people there it will probably be a good idea to get the permit. There may be a group that wants to help sponsor this, but someone can easily get one at the Recreation Center down on Washington St. in Keene.

If we set the date in the spring it will give all the pot advocate groups as well as pro-freedom in general groups time to gather lots of supporters. This seems to be an issue that many walks of life, such as the greens  :weed:, would stand up for.

This will be a way to show the public that all sorts of people want to end prohibition. Most of the public is already well aware that pot is not harmful. It is simply a choice that over 100 million Americans have been able to make for themselves.

4/20/07 perhaps would be appropriate. 8)

I hope it's done in a way that doesn't antagonize and anti-pot folks and doesn't create a back-lash.

I hope it goes well whenever/whatever it goes.

Are we finally ready for this type of event? I think so. It seems like we put this 800-pound gorilla on the back burner several times for various reasons.

Some sign ideas:

NO DRUG PROBLEMS BEFORE PROHIBITION
PROHIBITION MAKES DRUGS SEXIER
THE CURE IS CAUSING THE DISEASE
PROHIBITION PROMOTES DRUG USE
BANNING DRUGS INCREASES DRUG USE
ANTI-DRUG = ANTI-PROHIBITION
BANNING DRUGS POPULARIZES THEM

REMEMBER MAFIAS FROM ALCOHOL PROHIBITION?
BANNING DRUGS ENRICHES OUTLAWS
STOP DRUG DEALERS: END DRUG LAWS

LESS FREEDOM = LESS RESPONSIBILITY
LET ME CHOOSE TO BE DRUG FREE

WAR ON DRUGS: SELF-PERPETUATING
WANT TO STOP DRUGS? STOP DRUG LAWS!

AMERICA: MOST PRISONERS ON EARTH
NO VICTIM = NO CRIME
LET RESPONSIBLE ADULTS CHOOSE
RESPONSIBILITY = CHOICE

REMEMBER WHEN AMERICA HAD NO DRUG LAWS
DRUGS: GOV EXCUSE TO ROB, IMPRISON
WHO WILL SHRINK THE GOVERNMENT?
WHEN WILL REASON PREVAIL?
GIVE US BACK OUR RESPONSIBILITY
FIRST PROHIBITION IS GONE. NEXT?

Potheads don't hurt me/you - the government does.

Great ideas guys :)

I know I'm probably being dense, but why 4/20?

That is impossible. They will have to do the best they can.

I suggest an offer of 'unconditional surrender' in the war on cannabis.

Think this issue doesn't effect you cause you aren't a pothead?

One story from the war...
Makes eminent domain seem nice in comparison.
