Here's an idea for a protest:  :plotting:

http://www.dateline.ucdavis.edu/050799/DL_aggiecartoon2.html

Outline people's bodies on the ground signifying those killed by the drug war.

This is an EXTREMELY controversial technique and can backfire easily if you do it incorrectly. You must avoid any private property or symbolic property that may inadvertantly set off someone's emotions on an unrelated topic. A protest near the State building is probably the best. :)

Michael Fisher

Simultaneously use a similar protest technique to address imprisonment, such as handcuffing people dressed in orange prisoner clothes to signify the millions imprisoned for victimless crimes.

That's a really cool idea, I'm not sure there are enough sidewalk in all of Keene for all those who have lost their lives due to regulating free choice.

Students for Free Markets and Free Minds had a meeting tonight, and it has been decided that we will be either sponsoring or co-sponsoring an "End Prohibition" rally on April 20th at the Head of the square in Keene. All who wish to contribute and help out are more than welcome. More details pending :)

FTL_Ian

If it's an "End Prohibition" rally, will it also be addressing Gambling, Prostitution, and other prohibitions?

Should we just focus on ending drug prohibition?

earthhaven

That's what I meant but didn't say: "End Marijuana Prohibition." Thanks for the correction.

FTL_Ian

Now that's incrementalism I can really support.   8)

Increments:

1.  End Marijuana prohibition.
2.  End prohibition of all other drugs.
3.  End prohibition of prostitution.
4.  End prohibition of gambling.

d_goddard

Damn you and your incrementalism! Don't you know you're playing right into the statists' hands???
I don't know about others, but I say, this kind of thinking is just the kind of political game I despise!!
Demand FULL FREEDOM NOW!

/Denis apologizes. He probably needs to go get some sleep. Good night :D

Well if people want to bring signs and support the end of all VICE crimes that would be fine. I don't really care what people do as long as they're not hurting anyone/anything. To paraphrase Russell, "bring a circus of all sorts of people."

Michael Fisher

Increments:

0. Eliminate the government.
1.  End Marijuana prohibition.
2.  End prohibition of all other drugs.
3.  End prohibition of prostitution.
4.  End prohibition of gambling.

We should also add in a successful marketing strategy for our movement in every protest.

-What's so great about liberty?
-Why do we want liberty so much that we would give our lives for it?
-What specific aspect of liberty do we want the most?
-How will liberty directly benefit us?
-When we have liberty, how good will we feel?
-Why is liberty good for our families?
-What will be an immediate benefit of liberty?

The answer to these questions is what our signs should display.

I KNOW WHAT'S BEST FOR MY FAMILY
GIVE ME FREEDOM. IT'S MY RIGHT.
IT'S MY RIGHT TO CHOOSE

LESS GOVERNMENT, MORE LIBERTY
MORE RESPONSIBILITY, MORE LIBERTY
LESS LAWS, LESS TAXES
MORE DRUG LAWS, MORE DRUGS
MORE DRUG LAWS, MORE ORGANIZED CRIME

GIVE ME MORE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
GIVE ME MORE LIBERTY!
GIVE ME THE FREEDOM TO CHOOSE
GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH
I'D RATHER DIE THAN BE YOUR SLAVE

MY BODY, MY MONEY, MY CHOICE
DRUGS HURT FEW. DRUG LAWS HURT MANY.

END THE FASCIST DRUG WAR
NAZIS BANNED DRUGS TOO
DRUG LAWS: JUST LIKE NAZI GERMANY
COMMUNISTS BAN DRUGS TOO
NO DRUG LAWS IN 1776...
WE WERE FREE IN 1776...
ALCOHOL PROHIBITION DESTROYED AMERICA
DRUG PROHIBITION DESTROYING AMERICA
HOW MANY MORE MUST DIE FOR NOTHING?
HOW MANY MORE MUST ROT IN JAIL FOR NOTHING?

1 IN 138 AMERICANS INCARCERATED, RIGHT NOW
2.1 MILLION AMERICANS INCARCERATED, RIGHT NOW
DRUG LAWS: CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY
2.1 MILLION INMATES PLUS 5 MILLION FORMER INMATES
USA: WORLD'S HIGHEST INCARCERATION RATE
MOST PRISONERS ON EARTH = POLICE STATE

FREE ALL VICTIMLESS CONVICTS
WHY NOT TRY LIBERTY?
TRY FREEDOM: LEGALIZE
LIBERTY IS GOOD FOR AMERICA
LIBERTY IS GOOD FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE
USA: LESS FREE THAN CANADA?
DRUG WAR: AN UNNECESSARY DISASTER
WANT LOWER TAXES? END THE DRUG WAR.
WANT MORE LIBERTY? END THE DRUG WAR.
SICK OF BIG GOVERNMENT? END THE DRUG WAR.

ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE FREE?

I am new to this forum, so excuse the newbie aura please.  :-*

I am all for this type of action.  I currently live in Ohio, but I am a signing member of intent to the FSP.

I would love to work in coordination with you on a protest if possible.  Any solid goals, means yet?

Keep me informed!

Have you considered being part of the First 1,000?

I've been contacted by a few people to participate in the proprosed rally. My name is Phil and I used to run NHORML. A few years ago I produced the only pro cannabis rallies in NH for 3 consecutive years.

If your group is looking to make an impact, gain media attention as well as public support, you'll need to find a location outside of Keene to be taken seriously. Everyone already equates Keene as the hippie capitol of the state. Holding a rally there won't get your message out.

If your willing to hold the event in one of the major cities, I'd be more than happy to help in any way I can. The best place you can hold the event is in Manchester or the State House in Concord.

You'll also need a fair amount of money for permits, insurance, sound system, and stage. The bands will play for free and you can find vendors everywhere.

Is there an organization or just a group of people who've come together for a common purpose?

What's the budget?
