The Drug War, because alcohol prohibition worked so well.

4/20 might be a bad date for the event for these reasons:

- more pot smokers wake and bake on 4/20 than normal, perhaps resulting in a dramatically lower turnout.
- it feeds the stereotype of pot smokers as having some kind of campy, juvenile outlook on life.
- isnt it still pretty cold in NH in late april?
- it may force many pot smokers to abstain on that day, which would throw some orbit out of whack, i'm sure. you simply cant have that many people in one place who really REALLY want to get high at the same time.

Don't forget to include LEAP.

They add credibility for the law-and-order types.

I hope it's done in a way that doesn't antagonize and anti-pot folks and doesn't create a back-lash.

Once we can get enough "regular" people to come out as pot smokers, the anti-pot folks will hopefully come to realize they are just anti-their friends and family members.

I don't know if it would be a good thing or a bad thing to do the event on 4/20. On one hand it is when most news sources pick up the issue which would get us more press, and it is when most pot smokers unite to smoke. It's also usually warm and nice by April 20th, which falls on a Friday in 2007. Having a rally on Friday April 20th might be a good way (for some) to wind down after a long week. On the other hand it does bring up the issue of a stereotypical pot-head.

I don't think it's a stretch to bring people who oppose eminent domain into this issue. Over the past few years Cheshire County has been looking for a place to build a new jail. Eminent domain has been brought up as one possibility. If we were to free all the people who are behind bars for pot we probably wouldn't even need another jail! Just a thought.

what the hell is 916 supposed to mean?
September 16th
For whatever reason, MASSCANN/NORML picked that date. Probably more for the likelihood of good weather, recent harvest (ahem), and large crowd than for any numerological reason.

sorry - it was only a joke for myself. 420. 916. eh.

bleh.

If we have a date set people going to this event could hand out flyers for our event in the spring. I know it's a long way of but getting the word out early can only be a good thing. I'm going to go start working on this  :evil5:

Events should always be planned with a lot of lead time.  Come March, you'll be glad you started early.
