Nice.  The young man has had time to rethink what happened there, and he had the stones to revisit the issue.  Maybe he learned from YOUR example?

You acted on principle; not dimeing him out, which may have been more PRINCIPLE than he has ever been taught to recognize.

MAYBE he now realizes that you are not some "A--hole from Florida."
Maybe he now sees that you are a far better/kinder neighbor than the police-worshiping masses.
