Again. We don't worship Tolstoy the way you worship George.

you don't have to worship Tolstoy to recognize that his worship of George's theory puts you squarely at odds with what you are proposing...

Besides, I'm sure it's pricy shipping Tolstoys casket all the way from Mozer Rashia.

To give you some perspective Frank, I really enjoyed reading "Living the Good Life" which was written by hard core socialists. I think the Nearings were great people for moving out in the country and trying to make a self-sufficient/sustainable life for themselves but I completely disagree with their socialist views.

It's funny how I can read a book and agree with some things and not with others  ;) You should try it some time.

Families, especially of those who have to work two jobs or both parents work will be harmed by an income tax and it won't improve education.

I am not infavor of an income tax but rather targeted aid based on a land value tax...

but in the Below-Hager income tax scheme the working poor who own a home will pay less in taxes

You wish.

And I don't believe in STATE AID to education, period. It is unconstitutional!

QuoteAs someone experienced in these matters, I say NH schools do not need redistribution of the wealth, nor is it constitutional to do so.

wealth creation requires labor - there is no labor component from landowners in a land value taxation system.

the appointed members of the state supreme court disagree with you and there is no mandate for a constitutional amendment.

first 28K of income (with 3K per dependent deduction) for family of 4 would be tax exempt and no property tax due on house assessed under 250K.

for a couple earning $50K in Concord living in a $250K house they would pay 22K x 3.3% or about $700

property tax rates in Concord are approx 20/1000 so on a $250K house it would be $5K in property taxes.

they would net $4300 less in taxes...enough to send their kids to parochial school.

me too but I am not the "homeowning working poor" either...

in my LVT plan you and I would pay the same but those speculating on land in the urban core would get killed unless they used their location more productively which would stimulate jobs and wages would rise.

The money for the 'breaks' has to come from somewhere. This means some people would pay MORE.

Why is it that the childless, successful people always must pay for the rest of the people's kids to go to school? We are in no way obliged to be party to this socialism.

because inorder to have a thriving constitutional democratic republic there must be a sufficient level of competence so citizens can actively engage in their civic duties.
