September 25th, 9am, New London CT.  I don't know exactly which court.

Kat Kanning

I called the New London police to ask where she's being arraigned. He said, "Where ever they take her, OK?" and hung up on me.  What a bastard.

Kat Kanning

I'm guessing it's this:

Superior Court, 70 Huntington St New London, CT 06320-6113 (860) 437-0544

At 0915 Cen. I called NLPD and they said her arraignment was this morning. Apparently they realized that I wasn't anywhere near Connecticut and I asked if she was in NLPD custody and they replied no. Called NLDC, apparent that they are getting alot of calls because I kept getting machine.  Left a kind word about private developers using eminent domain.  Called court and they gave me some guys cellphone with a weird message.  Sounds like NH Free has been busy contacting them.  >:D

There's a bunch of people being arraigned this morning and they seem to be saving Lauren for last.  The fat cop ladies didn't enjoy carrying her arround.  John and Jim got some "free lauren" protesting in this morning.

Called the court at 860-443-8343

The polite woman said that Lauren's case has been continued till Oct. 23rd with a $20,000 bail. She has been given over to the mental health system.

Damn... almost a month. :(

The mental health system?!

They had housed her in the mental wing at the prison last time. I guess they mean that.

Okay, so who can we call about this now?   >:(

Clearly anyone who doesn't cooperate with the government thugs must be out of their mind, in their view.

Court Orders Competency Exam for Eminent Domain Protester

By Karen Florin

A New London Superior Court Judge ordered a competency exam today for Lauren Canario, the woman who has occupied homes in the Fort Trumbull neighborhood in protest of eminent domain.

Canario, 49, was charged with criminal trespass and interfering with police Friday after police arrested her at a Goshen Street home that was taken by the New London Development Corp. by eminent domain.

Canario had to be carried in and out of the courtroom today and refused to speak. Judge Kevin McMahon ordered an evaluation to determine if she is mentally competent to assist in her defense. He increased her bond from $5,000 to $20,000.

Contacted the AP office in Hartford and told them about the story... seemed interested. Pointed them to The Day newspaper so they could research the story.
