Don't scoff, Mike!  I once heard Steven Colbert talking about 3-D space ...  >:D

Steven Colbert is a Georgist.
Didn't you know that?

I think it is more funny if you watch the whole clip, which does actually show a libertarian arguement.

Listen carefully folks, and you will hear Colbert making a veiled reference to the Free State Project bus.
Colbert is a closet Free Stater.  Its time to call him out.

"Now I'm no fan of the loco weed but I'm a libertarian. What you do on your bus is your own business."

Colbert called himself a libertarian on his show again.  This time it was said even more serious-like.  This happened while he was having it out with Penn Jillet while Jillet was exposing the truth (but in a very rude way).  He also massively slammed Bush and the conservative media in the same show.

Currently, the interview with Jillet is featured as the last two videos.  http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_colbert_report/index.jhtml  11/01/06

While I used to think Colbert was a moderate, I am starting to think he might be a libertarian.

BTW, on Wed night (the same night all of this happened) South Park may have also made a reference to the FSP.  It even made wiki!

Colbert is ALWAYS in character on that show.  His character may well be libertarian, but that doesn't mean he is.  If doesn't mean he isn't.  Or that there isn't a flying spaghetti monster . . .

Of course, every right thinking person . . .

The latest South Park also talked about the FSM :)

Did you watch the Colbert Report in question, btw?  It seems that Colbert's "character" meant to say in a 100% serious way that he was a libertarian.

JonM

I probably have it on Tivo, which date?  I'll watch it tonight.  I watched that South Park this morning.

The thing that matters to us really isn't if his is or is not a libertarian.  If his character is, and he always stays in character on the show, then his character should be open to doing a segment on the FSP.

Atlas

Colbert would probably just make a joke out of the FSP.

Russell Kanning

He is a right thinking patriotic american and a stand up libertarian.

Damn I didn't think this original post was going to become a argument I just thought that the clip was nice and wanted to put it out there for people to see.

For those who haven't seen it, watched it on Tivo.  Penn had thrown Stephen's question cards away, but later grabbed one off the floor and started reading it.  The last thing he read was "Say, you call yourself a libertarian, so do I.  That means you --" Stephen interrupts - "You do? That's funny because I do too!"  Penn: "That means you believe in liberty, right?" Stephen: "Yeah, and you're free to leave."

Quantrill

Wow.  When I watch the show he totally comes off as a Lefty.  All I hear him do is bash Bush and other Righties much to the amusement of the audience.  Very entertaining though...
