Have you gotten in touch with NHNORML?  Are there any headshops in the area?

isn't the Green activist Mark Lathrop's "hemp emprorium" store still in Keene?

FTL_Ian

Hey Burn, What is the penalty in Sweden for making your own beer?  My dad used to make beer, and I have a friend that makes homemade wine.  And the wine is really strong stuff! :dragonball:

I agree with Denis plea's to moderate this thread, and move the unrelated posts somewhere else, but it would be rude to ignore someones question so...

*OT*

It's perfectly legal to make your own beer and wine in Sweden without needing any kind of permit, as long as it's for personal use. Liqour on the other hand, you need a permit. I'm not sure what the punishment for making liqour is, but it's probably a low fine if for personal use, and a very high fine/small amount of jail time if made to be sold.

The government had a monopoly on making liqour until 1997, when the EU forced Sweden to abolish the monopoly and allow private companies to make liqour. The state still makes liqour (Absolut Vodka), but it doesn't have a monopoly anymore.

Hey Denis. I'm not in dist 8, but I'd like to help. Who can I start to contact to help lobby for this bill?

No lobbying to do just yet... we need to find a constituent first.
It may be time to do somthing similar to what Rocketman and Ian have suggested, and try a more scattershot approach -- maybe outreach with NHORML flyers.

So, that makes for an easier question... where in the Hampstead/Kingston/Plaistow area, would be a good place to hand out flyers?

NH Native

A lot of construction workers smoke weed.  East Coast Lumber or places around it may be fruitful.  (it's a good lumber yard too btw).

Just a thought.

I feel like I know somebody who knows somebody out that way, but I haven't been able to place who.  I hate it when this happens. >:(  I'll make some calls tomorow or sunday to see if I know anyone who knows anyone.

Thank you! Thank you!!!

One other person has also come to me saying he may be able to go to the area and find someone directly.
I gave him the link to this thread.

We desparately need to get past "Step 1: find a constituent" ASAP!
If we can, a whole lot of things can happen very quickly.
If we can't, MJ reform is probably dead for at least another 2 years.

This is totally a case where 1 or 2 dedicated people who spend just a few hours of time can make all the difference in the world -- the kind of people who I know read NHFree!

d_goddard

I spoke with the owner of the Keene Hemporium today while at the Pumpkin Festival.
He says he used to know plenty of people in that area, but not anymore. He also says (understandably) that he doesn't get involved in MJ decrim efforts, because then people think he's just trying to legalize MJ with his Industrial Help activism. Understandable, but wrong-headed, of course: much better to fight for Freedom on all issues. But that's just an NHFree kind of attitude :)

Anyway, he also suggested just passing out flyers for NHORML and/or MPP, and chatting up anyone that seems interested and getting them to call Welch.

Hey, take a cell phone with you, have Welch's phone number all ready to go, and the constituent can call him right there on the spot! That'd totally be the way to go!!

Antrim, Bennington, Greenfield and Francestown are all BIG pot smoking towns.
Scott, that information will be relevant later, but is irrelevant now, as none of them are in Rockingham District 8.

Denis I sent about 6 emails out yesterday to people I know in that area.  They are all kayakers.  Maybe some of them smoke .. I don't know.  But I asked them to forward it to others or would be willing to do it themselves.
If anyone of them get back to me I will let you know.
