(The Cult are very cool and underappreciated) but stopped answering my emails when I brought up legalization.
Soft White Underbelly?
No; that's Blue Oyster Cult, also a great band (seen 'em ~5 times)

... and a smite to Dreepa for the OT post :P

I have just put up a new pledge (aside from the FSP) to encourage activism regarding the war on drugs.  I already have a few signers, and placed the initial goal at a modest 100.  Anyone who wants to help, or would like to encourage others to get involved, please click through and consider signing up

Status:
* Called Dr. Thompson; got his vmail. Left a message.
* Requested to add-as-friend and sent PMs to each of the myspace folks. Only 1 answered back.
* The one who answered back (jake) has not replied to my emails since I brought up MJ legalization

Summary:
Unless I hear back from Dr. Thompson, we need a posse to hit the streets (and lumber yard and town dumps) of the district, looking for constituents. Two people (Rocketman and Traveler) have volunteered to take time to join me and do just that, this coming Tuesday (aka Halloween). Thank you both, guys. Anyone else is welcome to come. If we can get 4-5 constituents to contact Mr. Welch, we'll be that much better off.

I bet he's kinda paranoid from smoking all of that weed.

So I decide to do some surfing looking for pot smokers in that area.  What do I find?  Denis posting it on forums... nice Denis nice!

Well it sounds like there will be a need to pound the pavement in that district to find a sponsor. There are sypathetic representatives around the state, and it would be worth contacting them even if we can't get anyone in the right district.

As a side note, what kind of sick individual would sell warm beer? Disgusting bureaucracy.

Look at Denis' myspace, I wouldn't reply back either :)

Denis, if you want to get this stuff passed you are going to have to partner with groups like MPP, LEAP, and NHORML.  Why not partner with them now?  Tell them that Mr. X is going to get reelected and will be the head of X.  He wants to push program X but only if someone from his district requests his help.  They should be able to get plenty of people to help.  Either that or just walk around and ask people, like the thinking seems to be going.

Also, if you think myspace is the way to go, there is the FSP guy on myspace that claims the main reason he joined the FSP is to work to legalize pot,   http://www.myspace.com/ghostcow

Just for you, Keith:  :-*

* LEAP does not get involved in grassroots stuff this early in the game -- they do speakers, and they do it beautifully. They'll be great once there is a bill to discuss.
* NHORML is a semi-defunct shell of an organization: the former head has vacated the org. It needs a new leader. Once it has one, you bet we'll partner with them.
* Traveler is active in MPP, and he's on board with us :)

Groovy. I'll contact him and see if he wants to revive NHORML!

mr.apathy

I checked the area for head shops and found "Cigars, etc." in Plaistow. But, I think its just tobacco products. It might be a good place to try to hand out flyers? Still no luck in finding anyone from the area.

Thanks,Denis for correcting the lack of involvement in national or organized anti-drug law groups.BTW,We (MPP-marijuana policy project for those who dont know)need volunteers and people to support the "removal of criminal penalties for medical marijuana patients".I have a sign up sheet. Is it possible to put it up on the site somewhere?I will send an MPP bumper sticker and my great appreciation to anyone who signs up.You dont really need to actually do anything physical.Just stand up and show your support for the people who need medmar to alleviate side-effects and to help a variety of other conditions.Any advice or takers?I am new to this type of activism and could use all the help I can get.Conman Bass is going to be hunting me down :)Non-mj smokers very welcome.Come on.Lets show some compassion and get the shit decriminalized. This drug war is insane.
thanks,

I recommend starting a new thread here on NHFree, devoted to just that -- soliciting for MPP volunteers.
Ask for potential signups to email or PM you, or to just post to the thread.
If you want to attach a signup sheet (don't see how it'd be useful in an online forum, but whatever) just click on "Additional Options..." below your initial post, and you'll get a field where you can attach/upload files.

Three more things you should do in addition:
1. Post a link to your new MPP thread on the FSP forum.
2. Post the info to the Yahoo Group (many Porcs subscribe to the group but don't check NHFree):
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NHPorcupines-announce/

3. Lastly, and probably most importantly, show up at the local Porc gatherings (Merrimack Valley, Seacoast, Monadnock) and solicit for volunteers in person.
Guarantee you'll get some.

If your ultimate goal is to get laws changed (or repealed) I strongly suggest you attend any and all trainings by the NHLA, including and especially the "legislative field trips". You'll be learning from people who have many years of experience in this type of activism, and know exactly what works.
