Just wondering a few things.  I've been looking at the Manchester area for awhile, and like the fact they have a hockey team.  I also like the activism that seems to be going on in Keene.  I'm wondering what kinds of things are going on in the area.  I'm a barfly and sports fan, so sports bars are my thing.  I would assume with the proximity to Boston that there would be at least a few sports bars in the area?

I guess I'm officially in my late 20s (ugh, I feel old) and was wondering what people in my age bracket do in NH?  I'm also curious as to the number of younger PORCs in the state.  Are there quite a few 20somethings up there?  Of course I'd love to meet everyone, but since I'll probably be moving by myself it'd be nice to make some friends my own age.  How's life for single people up that way?

I can't speak to the singles' deal in NH cuz I am out of that rat race.

There are plenty of sports bars in NH.  In fact a Porc even manages one.

If you like being outside there is a ton to do.
There is a 'bar scene' in NH.
There seems to be a bunch of '20something age' porcs in Manchester and Keene.  I will let them comment on what they like to do.

A porc started up a sports and social club too http://www.nhsportsclub.com/

Fluff and Stuff

Drinking and smoking weed are more popular among the 20something crowd in NH than pretty much anywhere else in NH.  NH is known for good shopping and outdoor activities (among other things). I plan to move to NH when I am about your age and look forward to lots of canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, skiing, and snowboarding.

I noticed plenty of bars in the Manchester area.  There are colleges (and the college kids and bars that go with them) in both Keene and Manchester but the Seacoast area has the largest NH college.

Dreepa, who is the porc manager @ Jillian's?  I didn't know that...I'll have to stop by.

Manchester has a good bar scene, or so I've heard. There are sure to be sports bars up there. I'm 20-something but I don't tend to be into that sort of thing. Can't tell you about the singles crowd either, since I'm already hitched, but I'm reasonably sure there are singles.
And the one thing you can bet on is that there will be single libertarians :)

He posts here as "Rearden".
He's also running for State Rep in Manchester!! :D
The correct link for his joint, by the way, is:

You haven't moved to NH yet, have you visited?

Most of the weed I've seen here is garbage. Still looking for the good stuff but I've been here a year and most of the libertarians I've encountered are moderate drinkers and not pot smokers. Feel free to prove me wrong!

I've been a few times.  I don't know where to get the good stuff, or maybe I do.  Actually, I might know a few people but am not sure if they are libertarians and would never act as a go between (I would never buy or sell illegal drugs).  I don't know about libertarians in NH, but most of the young people I know in NH like to get drunk and/or smoke weed from time to time.  This goes all the way from the 17 year old high schoolers to the post-college age kids.  The stats back this up.  According to studies, NH young people are known for drinking and smoking weed.

There's plenty of stuff to do as far as drinking and hanging out. One thing that stinks is that you can only drink until 1am. That has GOT to change!

When England did away with their strict closing times, the "last call" tradition of quickly slamming back several drinks went away too. They've had a marked decrease in alcohol-related problems (drunks all spilling out onto the streets at the same time, etc.) I believe they have studies showing that people actually drink less with longer hours.
