Hey all, I'm planning to visit the state from Chicago the week of Nov. 12th.  Does anyone have an extra room for rent, preferably near Manchester, Keene, or Nashua?

I'd definitely like to meet some of you folks for drinks.  Also, if anyone has some off-grid utility systems or otherwise unconventional but useful things on their houses that'd be cool to see.

I don't have offgrid system but I can give you a list of people who do and you can contact them.

tsaylor

That'd be great, thanks Dreepa.

Ok, so not much activity in here.  When I get to NH, who wants to go get a beer?  I don't know exactly what to do once I get there, so I'm going to need to hang out with some of you locals.   :)

You may be interested to learn more about the New Hampshire Sustainable Energy Association, at www.nhsea.org
A couple weeks ago there was a state-wide open house for people to tour different homes that have various sustainable energy devices in them; here's a list of homes that were open: http://nhsea.org/events_2006GBOH_sites.html

As far as hanging out is concerned, there's 5 of us who live in the same house in Deerfield, which is about 40 minutes from Manchester; not very close to Nashua or Keene, though. We have been known to bend the elbow from time-to-time  :D

Also, be sure to check the Nh Liberty calendar for events happening during the time you're here http://nhlibertycalendar.org/

Let us know which night you'll be in Manch...we're in for a few pints.

Sounds like he will be staying with us in Deerfield for a while, arriving tomorrow. Any other parties, events or gatherings besides what's on the calendar? Anyone else want to take him out or organize an informal get-together?

There is the Dada Hearing/trial scheduled for Monday.

If you make it up to the Plymouth area you should check out D Acres, which has an active solar system.  You could also stay over there, quite reasonably.  Or, you could crash on my couch here in Plymouth.

There are a number of people in the Plymouth area who have installed solar hot water systems, as part of an 'energy raising'.   The 'energy raising' concept is fleshed out more at plymouthenergy.org.  The Plymouth Area Renewable Energy Initiative meetings I've been to have all been very informative, and there are people there who are quite knowlegeable on alternative energy, alternative building techniques, biofuel, etc.  A good friend of mine is an electrician and put in an off-grid system (windmill/active solar with battery banks/generator).  Schedule permitting he might be able to talk with you or give you a tour of that house.  (I don't think its occupied yet)
