The surveillance cameras popping up all over Great Britain have so "cheesed off" the "grown-up, normal people" that they're outdoing each other trying to find creative ways to destroy them.

I like the idea of wrapping them up as festive packages. :)

Just curious, is there any way to "fix" the cameras so they would not send any "pictures" of speeders?

I think that was the whole subject of the article.

A few ways come to mind:

  • Black spray paint on the lens
  • Remove the hard drive
  • Just abscond with the entire camera

I'm sure if you use your imagination, you can think of others...

I don't know about this  -
Quote? It?s incredibly difficult to get to people to come to terms with slowing down here,? said Francis Ashton, the road safety manager for the city of Nottingham. ?In the States, you have much slower speed limits, and there?s more of a culture of sticking to the speed limit.?

Nobody here likes speed limits either.  I'm assuming there aren't any of these cameras in NH?

One of the "vigilante" groups has a website http://www.speedcam.co.uk/index2.htm  They have some pictures of cameras that have been destroyed/set on fire, etc...   These guys need to move to NH!!!

Throw a tyre on it and light it on fire.
Roofing tar on fire
An epoxy smeared all over the lens
Pipe bomb
Powerful vehicle with a tow rig, tie 'er up and gun it!
Thermite
Puncture it and fill with salt water
Hole in the top and shit inside

Place a "Don't tread on me" sticker over the lens.

I still want to install a Google API on here so we can locate surveillance cameras around the state and track them on our website.  :)

That would be the best.

I'll look for my earlier posts regarding this and link to them.

OH yeah, I completely forgot. I even bought a book the other day with some stuff relevant to putting this together. Assuming the FBI doesn't seize me in a predawn raid, I'll see if I can work on this tomorrow.

Woohoo!!!

I want to set one up in Utah, too. I'm in the mood to annoy the authorities. ;)

Eh, I could just make the thing nationwide -- or worldwide.

You don't have to do the Utah one...

...unless you really WANT to be shipped off to Romania and tortured by the CIA.

I just need to figure out how to set it up.
