Ayn Rand wouldn't like using blanket statements to stereotype a certain culture. Isn't racism the most primitive form of collectivism, Mr. Objectivism? Or, should I say, Mr. Neo?

Muslims object to the publishing of cartoons that ridicule their religion.

I object strongly to cartoons that ridicule Jesus and Christianity. I support the right of the people to create and print them, but if I ran a paper, I wouldnt.

They called for the death of the cartoonist for those cartoons... I would have a very hard time believing that any christians would call for a cartoonists death for drawing a silly picture of Jesus.

Heck, were there any death threats over the movie Dogma that completely made fun of the christian faith?  I don't recall any.

If Iran comes here and tells us what to do .... we will not cooperate with them either. :)

Sounds like a plan to me.

Identifying the essentials of a religion isn't racism.

Identifying a principle isn't a "blanket statement".

Thank you, lildog. This is the exact point. In the West, when we don't like a viewpoint, we don't riot, murder, kill, burn buses and make death threats.

Dirty, filthy Muslims do.

We're at war. THEY STARTED IT.

What's this they nonsense... what, every Muslim is responsible for what some do?

I had a landlord from Pakistan, a Muslim family who where much more tolerant, cultured and civilized than most americans... including myself.

You might try selling your bigoted hatred somewhere else.

Objectivist, you are no Objectivist. You haven't a clue what Objectivism is about. You are a rascist, hateful person, nothing more.

A desire to defend rights and freedom is neither racist nor hateful. But I hate Islam, you can quote me on that!

With the possible exception pf lildog, everyone who has posted on this thread seems to think I'm a bit nutty, or worse. What do any or all of you propose we do about the Islamic threat? Just start praying to Allah? Or fight back?

When was the last time that Switzerland got attacked by anyone?

If we merely minded our own business -- while making it clear that an attack would be severely punished -- and had nothing in the way of "entangling alliances" (including trying to bring "peace" to the Middle East), then we could be a prosperous nation built on the principle of free trade, free enterprise, free immigration (after eliminating the welfare state), and free thought.

We don't need to fix the world -- just the U.S.  Let freedom lovers come to us in the marketplace of ideas.

They've been lucky to catch the people in advance so far but they HAVE had threats.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/19/AR2006071901795.html

BERN, Switzerland -- For centuries, this Alpine nation has successfully relied on a strict policy of political neutrality to insulate it from the wars, invasions and revolutions that have raged outside its borders. These days, a new threat has emerged: one from within.

As they have elsewhere in Europe, Islamic radicals are making inroads in Switzerland. Last month, Swiss officials announced the arrests of a dozen suspects who allegedly conspired to shoot down an Israeli airliner flying from Geneva to Tel Aviv. In a related case, a North African man has been charged with organizing a plot from Swiss soil to blow up the Spanish supreme court in Madrid.

error

That looks like a threat against Spain, not against Switzerland. It just happened to be planned by outsiders who, for whatever reason, went to Switzerland.
