The range/# of the donations goes all the way to fifty. Let's start building a warchest to cambat the anti-freedom folks in '08. We did OK this year, but let's declare '08 ours. We should also have money available to LPers in the next elections.

Atlas

This pledge, among others, should be the idea of strengthening our candidates on the way to the Next round in '08. Let's show spirit, guts and seriousness.

Dreepa

Is this a pledgebank pledge?  or just here on this forum?

I was thinking that potential candidates should start fundraising now.. so that when 08 rolls around that don't have to be looking for money.

I like the NHLA donation idea

Im definitely running in 08 but I will wait and see how the redistricting works out, so I know how many houses I have to hit, before I decide to spend too much

FYI, its unlikely that redistricting will occur before the 2010 census.

So, the voters pass an amendment and they sit on it for 4 years??!! Seems to me that they could use the same numbers they used to make the districts we currently have and split the districts up to be in accordance with the wishes of the constituents. I personally do not relish the idea of remaining in a larger than necessary district for 4 more years.

Populations shift a lot... unless there's a state census, I dont forsee it changing either.

Although, supposedly the disctricts were like this before some court case, maybe they'll just revert back to how they were

Quantrill

I'll give some $$ to the NHLA.  I'm sending them an email to see what I can do to volunteer from the midwest.  I'm sure there's ways to help out via the internet???

Denis will be on you so quick.

YES soon (Dec?) there will be 100s of potential bills that need to be read and judged if they are pro liberty or anti liberty.

Quantrill

I would assume that many of those would be Anti-liberty.   :dontknow:

We don't need bills adding laws, we need bills subtracting laws!   :icon_pirat:

Right and the only way to know is to have someone read them all.

If one wanted to contribute to the NHLA, where would one mail a contribution?

Also, re: Quantrill and rescinding laws: I agree. I've long felt that the last law any state should pass is a law capping the allowable number of laws at, or below, the existing number of laws.

That would require anyone wishing to pass a new law to hunt down an old one and repeal/replace it, or reorganize/rationalize an existing irrational/disorganized group of laws.  It would re-emphasize the "oversight" function to legislative bodies, who are generally charged with that and who generally totally ignore it.
