I have some Mother Earth News magazine rom 70's and 80's.  I'm not sure how many or what issues, although I can check tomorrow. $1.00 ea.  goes to the LSF.  I also have a few issues of some other 'alternative life style' mags from  the same era.
Bring some up to the Liberty Forum.
I may be interested in some.

Maybe you can sub contract out on a table at the alt expo tables.

I'm in so much trouble with the folks on the board now, I'm almost afraid to show up at LF.  I don't know if I  dare to acknowoledge  the existence of alt expo ;D

I'm looking for an inexpensive MI Carbine.

No such thing these days, especially for USGI. The Universal, Iver Johnson and Plainfield civilian versions are even going up to ridiculous prices (especially considering what you get).

Oh yes, I completely forgot about guns. Once I get to NH I need to outfit myself with a sidearm and rifle of some sort (haven't quite made up my mind on this yet).

If I remember correctly Plainfield Machine Co. made them during the War.  Sometime in the 6's think they realized they had a lot of the fixtures, jigs, models and guys who had been there during the war and decided to start manufacturing them again.  We sold them in the store I worked.  After a few years of looking at surplus carbines the new one looked unreal.  So clean. No Stains!
In those day  you could get a surplus MI carbine for $35-$50.00.  I was working after school and on weekends in the store for 75 cents an hour. I bought a lot of guns, just never got some of the basics: Lugar, 1911, P38,Carbine and Garand which I've never much cared for.

Are you familiar with CMP? Take a look at their eligibility requirements; you can join the Garand Collectors Association and qualify. You can also join any of these affiliated clubs in CT.

The nice thing about CMP is that you're receiving back tax-purchased goods from the government, and profits go to support junior marksmanship programs.

Anyhoo, CMP is about to go through a feeding frenzy, based on this:
Quote29 December, 2006.   The Army has transferred to the CMP a significant quantity of M1 Carbines. We are currently processing these carbines through our Inspection & Repair operations and expect to have some ready for sale by 1 March, 2007, but it may be sooner. More information will be posted on this web page as it becomes available.

At this time no decisions have been made as to grading, pricing, or limits. We are not accepting orders or establishing waiting lists at this time!!

NOT ACCEPTING ORDERS AT THIS TIME!!
NEXT CARBINE UPDATE WILL BE FEBRUARY 16 - 18, 2007!![/url]

Years ago CMP was moved out of the Army, and turned into a government-chartered pseudo-private corporation. They changed from providing dirt-cheap milsurp rifles and ammo, to selling those government-donated goods for whatever the market would bear. Profits go to support junior shooting sports programs.

Anyhoo, the insider rumors are that these carbines will start at no less than $250. Market prices for complete, matching, wartime samples currently go to $600+. They will be sorted, graded, and priced accordingly. There will be several rounds of sales, as carbines are unpacked and processed.

Getting your paperwork in immediately is strongly advised if you want to get a carbine in 2007.

Thanks Kevin.  I'm not interested in joining anything, just want a carbine to compliment all my 30 shot clips
