I'm not sure if me having my own questions subforum will attract more viewers or make them less likely to see my questions.  I'm leaning towards the latter.  What do you think?

It depends on whether they've figured out how to use the "Show Unread Posts" link. :)

It's the very first thing I look for, and I consider forum software horribly inferior if it doesn't have it. It's absolutely indispensable, especially for keeping up with the FTL BBS!

Yup, "Show Unread Topics" is the way to go.  Sometimes I'll read a childish post, get halfway annoyed, then realize it's in the "Childish Forum."  Still, that's a small price to pay for being able to stay current on conversations of interest...

aries

your questions are too interesting for me not to look at

I hardly ever have answers though, despite being an NH resident ... then again you are now too!  :)

Is there an aggregator for these SMF forums?  Here, FTL, and FSP in my previously-shot-down opinion should be consolidated.  It would be very cool if there was a thunderbird extension that allowed aggregation and replies.  It's the replies that are tricky...

Rocketman

heh, not sure that idea is "seaworthy," Dan.   ;D

Do it.  Your celebrity status will grow.  An "Ask Ian" section might relieve the pressure on your inbox and give me some more material for my rotating Ian quotes in my Darkspyral signature.  I need a good replacement for:

How 'bout you just leave me the fuck alone assholes!?! - Ian Bernard

As it is people often pose questions to you on the BBS that I don't think you see.  You still might not have the time or inclination to answer them all but you'll know where to find them.

My first ask Ian question:
The above quote is obviously from a web only broadcast.... 4th of July I think.
Both you and Mark are real quick to respond when people say unapproved words on air.  Often I wouldn't even notice those words anymore than conjunctions or prepositions as they are part of my native vernacular.  You took so naturally to using them when you were outside the jurisdiction of the FCC I suspect the same is true for you.  How do you manage to be so aware of them for 3 hours a day and then seemingly turn the filter off like a switch on the internet only show?

Edit:

And sometimes I think Ian's asking if he should have a section dedicated to people asking HIM questions without realizing the section I'm posting in has the exact opposite purpose

We're trying to protect our affiliates, is how.

Not to nitpick but....well OK to nitpick but.  That's a why not a how.  You do a good job of it anyway.  Even when I pay close attention I don't notice what they said till you're done telling them not say it again.

FTL_Ian

In this case, the why creates the how.

I am not sure, but I think a special section is nice.

Since this place is for asking Ian questions or for Ian to ask questions..... How do you like the special treatment?

Yea .... I think they should be combined, since there are no differences whatsoever.

Seems unnecessary.   I feel like I've been segregated for my questioning ways.  :P
