Another thing for the Plymouth area calendar:

Jim Kelly is doing a talk at the Pease Public Library on Jan 24th.  He is the author of Burn.  More info is at the New Hampshire Humanities Council website.

I added a public calendar to the site. If you have a google account I can add you as an editor... anyone else who wants to be able to add stuff just ask.

Some things:

There are some broken/missing links on the site.
- The Libertarian Party of NH does not have a link at all.
- The Republican Liberty Caucus links to their discussion forum.  Should we maybe link to their actual site, which has a link to the forum?
- The Keene Free Press and NH Free links are broken (they link to http://plymouthliberty.org/nhfree not nhfree.com or the equivalent for KFP.

Also, I am willing to have my personal blog (its all political) on the links section.  The address is http://tylerstearns.blogspot.com.  Hasn't been updated in too long because of my arm, but once I am better I can start posting again!

Republican Liberty Caucus of NH

The NH Free link just has the extra stuff in front of it to be taken out.

Also you might want to give some information about your town such as:

And list the websites of your legislators by searching on Plymouth on this page:

Reps:
Cooney and Estes

Senator:
Deborah R. Reynolds

Executive Councilor District 1:

Well it's de rigeur for the candidates, town committees, and taxpayer websites I do, so no biggie!

None of the other porc groups have actual websites, and I am not sure you have a town committee for libertarian/republicans, and  you do not have a taxpayer group either, it wouyld be nice if yours sort of fills in the gap for all of those ? for both where to go/what to do in town, as well as state stuff.

I fixed some of that stuff you mentioned this morning Tyler and CNHT I'll see about adding those links tomorrow.

I'll also clarify the wording to encourage people to submit news/content/articles for the front page via the contact form.

Thanks for all the links and info CNHT!

Add www.melissadata.com so people can do research that they can use to back them up at town meetings and such.

You are also welcome to link to / steal any PDF files or other information we have on CNHT.org

I've added a discussion board to the site

One thing you'll probably need to know is that in the name field, if you want to identify yourself uniquely, type your name like this: name##securepassword, where securepassword is some password that only you know, but isn't one you use at other sites (it won't show up as **** for you or anything, so anyone looking over your shoulder could see it).

Also, I've set it to allow file uploads for images, but I'm not sure how well that system will work. Nonetheless, it is there if you have an image you'd like to share.

If yours doesn't default to it, I suggest pseud0ch for the board look as it's very simple and easy to see everything, but if you like a more stylish look, they are there.

Enjoy :)

CNHT

This is great because when you invite the townspeople to your site, they can discuss the issues on the board like they do on the Merrimack forum.

I have a NH board at the NHLC and it ONLY has three categories: NH Local, NH State and then Anything goes. I want to limit the discussion to NH only.

In your case you could limit it to the towns that share the schools for example if you are in a district that does have more than one, and then State and then 'other'.

Otherwise you will just have all the moonbats posting there about everything else that has nothing to do with NH, and your town and state government.

I think I'll add a note at the top that the board is for discussing PLN and Plymouth region issues. I don't want an "anything goes" or "general" section since I predict that the user base will remain rather small for some time to come. As it grows, I will add more boards as necessary for necessary topics.

I always feel a bit sad when I see a forum with 15 boards, most with just a handful of threads and one or two with 100+. I wonder why the site owners don't just delete or consolidate those boards. As long as people use descriptive topics, it's not hard to navigate.

The system I installed on the PLN site is probably different from what most here have used before. It's called Kareha and it's based on the function/layout of the world's largest bbs - 2chan, which is a very influential Japanese site that has 150 million posts per day... on a slow day. It doesn't require login or registration of any sort, however users can use a "tripcode" to identify themselves as consistently the same person, by putting #(password) after their name. That works on any site that uses tripcodes, and will show up as the same pseudo-random string. Putting ##(password) is much more secure and not as vulnerable to brute force, but it is specific to each install of the board, so if you browsed, say, 5 out of the 100+ boards at 2chan, and wanted people to know it was the same you on each, you'd use an "insecure" (only really insecure if you use a short/poor password). If you didn't mind having a different code on each page, then you would use a secure tripcode (##password)

It also has a few features that users dont notice out of the box, like if you put "sage" in the link field, it won't bump the thread, but your reply will still be posted. This is there because after a certain number of posts, threads can no longer be bumped, so saging a thread and simply putting "sage" in the box will add a reply but not bump it. People usually do this with spam because it makes it disappear quicker, and never actually be bumped to the top. Additionally, if it's setup to, it will hide your unique code (just a mashed up version of your IP to show, again, that it's the same user) when you sage, so that in case you saged the thread because you didn't like it and wanted it to kill it, the creator wouldn't know which person saged it.

Well, maybe I'm not the best to explain the concepts and philosophy behind the system, but needless to say it seems foreign to most people at first, it's really quite intuitive.

If anyone wants to know more just as me at the PLN discussion board
