K.. I've been sold on the 47.  Now I'll have to keep my eyes open for one, screw buying from a dealer.

I've got a gp-wasr I may be willing to sell

I have a WASR-10

It's just as good as the more pricey AKs, but that trigger is really sloppy. Not that it matters as much as it would with a precision rifle. I suppose it would be pretty easy and cheap to buy a better aftermarket trigger and install it.  Or you may be able to lighten the existing trigger.

It seems some WASRs don't accept 30 rd mags.  Do yours, md and citizen?  Will you email me at ian at freetalklive.com with some pics and a description of what you're selling?  (For instance what accessories, if any you'll include.)

Derailing slightly...

At the ranges that these things are useful for, why not go with a shotgun?

And if you like the AK-47, why not go with a Saiga-12?

That's my plan for a close-quarters weapon.

Did I misunderstand?  Are you comparing the range of rifle rounds to that of shotguns?

Check out the link... it's a semiauto shotgun based on the AK... pretty cool. Thanks for the link MaineShark.

Here is something wild... this company makes a full auto version.
Watch the video on this page.

For CQB?  Yes.  Particularly with the ammunition variety available.  Shot, slugs, sabot...

The Israelis are actually using shotguns as urban sniper weapons.  Makes sense, given that the majority of urban combat is done at ranges that just make a typical sniper rifle seem silly, whereas the shotgun can deliver much more power, and be just as accurate, within urban combat ranges.

My wasr-10 has been modified to take hi-cap mags....

The Mossberg 695 is a Sniper shotgun  :D
Do you need a spotter when you shotgun snipe?
Isn't the effective range of a shotgun about 130 yards....if you are good?

Don't the Israelis use the Ruger 10/22 as a sniper rifle?

.22s are used as sniper rifles.  They put a silencer on them and use them to take out dogs.

Those can be modified to take 30 round magazines (or 40 or 75 or 100).  All it takes is a few minutes with a dremel, or for a better looking job, a milling machine.

Thanks to all the assistance and suggestions from everyone - especially MD!
