Dave went Old Testament on their sorry hides and did the King James smack down to finish them off.

Political Churches Questioned By Anti-Tax Protesters

Members of nhfree.com, a forum advocating lower taxes and smaller gobernment, held silent protests at several locations around Concord.

I fixed the misspellings.

We only video taped the protest at Concord City Hall, details coming soon.

Dave Ridley

Thanks for posting this Lauren!

I will probably post some more details too...however in fairness one thing I'd like to point out right off the bat is that of the twenty or so people we interacted with at these organizations, only one reacted in a hostile manner and told us to leave.   The one who mentioned the police was, I think, just saying that they would come if we accidentally activated an alarm in a certain door.   Though maybe I was misreading him.

David

Good job guys.  Too be honest, I was not a fan of the protests against the gov't buildings, because I believe them to be a waste of time.  But I do support going after the supporters of gov't force.  That is where we can be most effective.

I used to feel the same way.
I now believe there is a lot to be gained by people doing both media-friendly Civ Dis, and in actively engaging the legislature.

FWIW, in my opinion, direct engagement, giving testimony, tracking bills, and generally making our presence known and respected in the State House is the most effective way to make change happen, based on the results I observed last year. I hope we'll see ya at the State House soon!

Denis,

We of course, could quibble endlessly about what is "most effective". I know that the political activity is very very consuming of time and energy. That must diminish its efficiency. And the returns are there but the value of that return is arguable. Rather than argue, it seems we should make personal choices on how to expend our own efforts and allow for others to come to their own conclusions.

Our audience(or target) is everywhere. Whatever we choose is a benefit to the movement.

Agreed, and long since over-argued. I was mostly responding to fsp-ohio, as I suspect he hadn't experienced the hue & cry on this topic since last time it was over-debated.

May I suggest a compromise position... we can create a hybrid activist.

d_goddard in the front and Dada Orwell in the back...

This way you can testify to the legislature in the front and silent protest your opposition in the back.

Clearly we all need to do more media-friendly Civ Dis in Concord. ;)

Dada already gives testimony at the State House from time to time.

Dog gone it Denis I knew you would say that. ;D

Now if he would just wear the V mask on the back of his head. ;)

Russell Kanning

Testifying or voting on the house floor in a V mask ... now that would be fun.

For those that lack the courage to face the beast .... going up against the other supporters of the government gang, such as these church orgs ... seems like a good step.

Silent Protester Questions City's Ban On Displays

CONCORD, NH -  Displeased with Concord's abuse of local businesses Dave Ridley, liberty activist, decided to protest in various city offices Wednesday.  He stood silently holding a banner asking "Is it right to ban electronic signs?" and handed leaflets to interested onlookers.  The leaflet enumerates his moral objections to the ban.  It reads in part, "In a free country you don't need permission from the government to set up a sign at your own business... In a free country, government does not impede harmless commerce.  Is Concord 'free country' or are city officials turning it into something else?".

Ridley was largely ignored by workers in city hall, the code enforcement department and city manager's office.  He left after about fifteen minutes in each location.  If the city officials would show such benign neglect to businesses they would never have had to deal with the legislative red tape, aesthetic evaluations or legal costs of the ban either.

;D  I've seen some of the debates, and usually involve myself in the ones that inevitably pop up around any contraversial activists actions and arrest.  And I certainly agree that ultimately, every activist must decide what is right for him/her.   :)

I still think that one would have been more effective, done with an electronic sign!
