I love Nova memories and stories, thanks for sharing!  I drove in a "weird to me" car with a three speed shifter on a column I forget what kind of car it was because my friend was driving it for someone else for a day and took me for a ride, it looked confusing that's what I remember.

It was probably a "Nash". LOL

I have had lots of cars with the gas behind the license plate, but that was before the pinto problems. At least I assume that is why it isn't done anymore. You didn't have to worry about what side of the pump you pulled up to.

Yes isn't that a pain in the butt! I have two cars, each one has the gas tank on the opposite side and I can never remember which side I need to pull up at!
You don't know how many times I've been hemmed in at the pumps with a long line and had to just leave because I could not just turn around. LOL

American on one side and Japanese on the other, I think. I wouldn't really know because I am spoiled. I don't have to do fill ups but once or twice a year.

My Toyota's gas tank is on the driver's side and the Audi's on the passenger side. Neither are American so I don't know the reasoning.

But don't get me wrong,  I don't think there should be a law over which side it should be on..... LOL!!!

Most late-model cars have an arrow on the fuel gage showing which side the fill spout is on.

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle, thank you Pat! I'll have to look for that. You'd think it would be automatic but as I'm turning into the station I can NEVER remember which side I have to face toward the pump....

I did well though, was not in NH and blew some fuses in the Audi. I took it apart and found them and changed them myself....

My Saturn doesn't have one, so I took a piece of masking tape and made one  8)

My truck has dual tanks. I can pull up to either side.  8)

Friday

Friday vs the Ice Storm of '07: Score so far

Power - out (and to add insult to injury, the people right across the hall *have* power)
Nails - chipped
Hand - bleeding
Little toe - potentially broken
Car windows - still coated with ice
Eyeball - scratched from flying ice sliver while feebly attempting to remove ice from car windows
Neck - sore from driving to B&N hunched over to peer through the tiny break in the ice on car windows
Hair - uncombed (too dark to see reflection in mirror)
Cost of B&N WiFi Internet access - outrageous

Mood - bored, irritable
Cat's mood - amused, nonchalant (why is Human lying on floor by open window with small object full of shreddable material?   :book1: excellent opportunity to leap on ass and take advantage of body heat)

Looks like I picked the wrong month to quit drinking!  :P   :sad1:

Happy New Year, Sandy.  You always have to plan on more time for everything involving cars during ice or rain storms..  One of the things you do with the time is start the car, turn the heat on to defrost, turn the blower on, lock the vehicle and ......WALK AWAY!  Go inside and have some hot chocolate.  You need two keys. I keep a spare key in my wallet.
The winter before last I started covering my truck with a tarp when bad weather was forcast, because I have to stand on a ladder to brush off the roof.  I made a little light weight knock down framework so the snow wouldn't hang up the tarp on the ladder racks.  This year I am driving a little Jetta.  I bought a tarp for less than 10 bucks.  I think it is about 9 x 12, but, I could be wrong.  I drape it over the windows and weight it down with 4 bricks which I'm planing on replacing with rubber strechy things and clip them to the grill and trunk lid.  I don't even have frost on my windows when I remove it in the morning.  Of course there is frost on the tarp, but, I just fold it up and put it in the tru to deal with later.
Hope this helps
Lloyd

Once again Friday's misery is our entertainment. ;)

You've got to write a book... I'd buy it. :D

Yeah you sorta start out scared to see what has befallen the fair maiden, then find your-self being highly entertained .

Hope all turns out well Sandy.
