Maybe it is time for a new bumper sticker: "So many government outrages, so little time"

....what can we do to help?

unfortunately, there's not a whole hell of a lot people CAN do.

if we could get the cops to actually level a charge, we could defend ourselves against it.

but they won't. because, after club e'lan a few years back, they know that anything they try to do will backfire on them. even more so that joe actually lives in the house..club e'lan was a pure party house. since he actually resides there, he can invite or not invite whomever he wants into his home and it really isn't a "buisness" even if he is asking people to chip in for the food.

the papers and the TV news will go crazy for a while. because it sells. but eventually they will get bored and move on. and we'll be back.

unfortunately it doesn't help joe, who just got fired from his job because of the harassment that they were giving his work. but he'll bounce back, he always does.

can anyone tell me when the porcfest is this year? he told me today that he'd like to go up and talk to people.

Tell him to look into legal action.  There are plenty of employment lawyers out there, and I'd imagine most would probably have a free consultation to see if you have a case.

here's an old article, about a similar subject, with some results that may be helpful to us..we're trying to contact the people involved..but aren't having much luck. f the ACLU actually did anything, and it was succesful, it would definitely be of use. I love the part about county, state and federal told the cops there was nothing illegal, but they went in anyway.

ACLU investigating swingers' club investigation

Associated Press

PELHAM, N.H. -- The American Civil Liberties Union is looking into the way police investigated an alleged swingers' club run by a Massachusetts couple.

ACLU attorneys are studying the case, along with several other alleged swingers club cases in New Hampshire, to determine what course to take, according to Dan Berger of the union's national headquarters in New York. Action could include filing suit against the town for alleged civil rights violations, Berger said.

Undercover police infiltrated the club and saw people allegedly engaging in various sexual activities. Although county, state and federal prosecutors told them there wasn't anything illegal about such events at a private residence, police released details about the parties and the couple who ran them at their home.

Pelham police Lt. Joseph Roark said at the Dec. 8 news conference there were no minors, drugs or prostitutes found at the parties. The Lynches Elan Swingers Club Web site said those attending had to be at least 25 years old and ''strictly no drugs'' would be permitted.

Couples who came to the alleged parties were asked to make a donation of $50 per couple.

Diane Lynch, 55, and Thomas Lynch, 53, have been the focus of attention since police responded to a complaint that ''inappropriate sexual behavior'' was taking place at the home.

A neighbor wrote in a Nov. 13 letter to police, ''I have become concerned about the rumors of swinging parties at a neighbors house . . . I have been told these parties are being held every 4-8 weeks on Saturday nights.''

The allegations attracted national headlines and prompted hundreds of curious motorists from Massachusetts and other states to drive through the quiet neighborhood, gawking at the Lynches' house.

''I feel sorry for them,'' neighbor Karen Schaffer said.

The Lynches, who have put the home up for sale, bought it on Feb. 18, 2001, for $286,000, according to sales records. Their primary residence is in Wakefield, Mass.

Man... I don't have the words for that busybody neighbor.  But I guess in a society where we're expected to blow the whistle on our neighbor, such an activity is not only acceptable, but applauded!

I mean, it would be one thing if people were having their rights violated, but everybody in attendance shows up of their own volition and even contribute cash voluntarily!

What the hell ever happened to, "it's none of your business!"

Oh please don't the Police have more important things to do than to bust people having sex. If it's consensual sex between adults , what's the problem? I wonder what they were doing while they had the place under surveillance ?????

"police surveillance" consisted of a drive-through and counting cars..something they did every night if we were there or not.

the biggest part of the "surveillance" was the reporter herself, at our new years eve party, taking on everyone she could in our open room around midnight. that's how she got most of her info, even though she got a lot of it wrong. I can't help but believe it is on purpose..she asked joe about his wife, and knew she was deceased, and STILL put her as one of the owners of the house in the article. for what reason, I can only guess at. I think it may have been to get a rise out of joe, and perhaps provoke him into making a comment.

As libertarians we believe in freedom of association. If an employer wants to fire somebody for whatever reason. That's their right. It would be contradictory and hypocritial to libertarian principles to threaten to sue the employer. We always need to take the high road.

Now, he might have a case against the cops for defemation of charactor or harrasement or something, but even if such a case was one, the only way to get compensation is for the gov to steal money from fellow taxpayers. Plus, as a libertarian who believes in freedom of speach it seems like lible and slander should be legal so from a libertarian standpoint their is't much rights violation their either -- except that this defemation is coming from the government.

Ummm... given the nature of the party...  ;D

Sounds like that in-depth news coverage we always hear so much about.

A reporter who thrusts herself into the middle of the action?

she came to the house, had a lot of fun, and then ruined the fun for everyone else.

Hey warhorse, if one of you guys want to write up your side of the story, I'd print it in the Keene Free Press.  The government needs to stay out of people's bedrooms (and the rest of the house, for that matter).
