Funny that a thread urging people to turn off their TVs has morphed into a thread about favorite programs.

Years back, I used to be a news and C-SPAN junkie. Now, I can't sit still while someone else tells me what the news is and what the politicians are doing.

I watch a few entertaining shows, when I have some downtime. A little bit of "Dog Whisperer", a little bit of "Dirty Jobs", a little "Mythbusters" (geeks with guns!). A little bit of "House" and "Monk". "American Chopper" if I'm not doing something else. The only recent show that made me buy the hype and watch religiously was "Jericho" on CBS, and I'm rather irritated that they split the season so that I have to wait until February to find out the next twist.

On average, I only watch TV 2-4 hours a week.

Isn't your avatar from that 'Bob visits the Mayor' cartoon show that I can't stand?

Whose avatar?  I've never, ever heard of that cartoon when was it on? :)

Now.  Late night on the cartoon network.  Its 'Tom visits the mayor'  Its part of  'Adult Swim', a series of weird cartoons.  They also have 'Peewee's Playhouse'  All of this is after 11pm.

Idiocracy was very entertaining.  I no longer own a television, but I do still consume some programming via the internet.  (Then i purchase the DVDs to support the programs.)  Coincidentally they all happen to be Showtime programs:

Weeds
Dexter
Penn and Teller's BULLSHIT!

Jared

i need to watch weeds. ive heard good things. btw ian, if you're ever in portsmouth let me know and ill buy you a...soda? id like to meet to infamous ian bernard sometime.

Thanks, but I'm a cheap date.  I drink water.

Also, I rarely leave the Keene area, but if you're attending the Liberty Forum come and find me.

I love Boston Legal, I can't help myself.  ;D

Rather brilliant diatribe against Homeland Security and the "no-fly list" this week.  ;D

I heard about that episode. Too bad it doesn't work like that in Washington.

The only way airport security could get worse is if the TSA started hiring the terrorists... as it is, they can't even stop 9 year old children from sneaking onto planes.

Speaking of television, there's this grad school guy from Durham, NH on Jeopardy! this week.  A 3-day champ so far, he won big against two government (presumably) bureaucrats today, and managed to work a "preemptive strike" joke into the conversation.  I know he's just starting out, but he might do for New Hampshire what Ken Jennings did for Utah.   :icon_pirat:

Oh. I just can't resist.  ;D

QuoteI'm the slime
by Frank Zappa
------------------
I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed 'n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little had changed
I am the tool of the Government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I am the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I am the slime oozin' out
From your TV set
You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help...no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold
That's right, folks..
Don't touch that dial
Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livin'room floor
I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, lookit me go
