A decade for 'Dr. Dino'
Kent Hovind gets 10 years for violating federal tax law

A newly remorseful Pensacola evangelist, who still disputes the government's right to make him pay taxes, was sentenced Friday afternoon to 10 years in prison on federal tax charges.

His wife, Jo, will be sentenced March 1 on charges of evading bank-reporting requirements.

Heh... now this is a test for me.

I don't know Hovind personally, but I've heard of him.  The guy makes ridiculous claims about evolution and his "Dinosaur Adventure Land" has quite a number of exhibits which make patently false claims.

That said, nobody deserves the treatment he received.  His ideas, however looney, should rise or fall on their own merits.

I am almost positive that this event is receiving all sorts of cheers from a particular group that comes to mind, consisting mostly of statist scientists (though I don't see it on this one guy's website... hmm...).

Oh, that poor crackpot.  I'm sorry to say I'm familiar with this guy.  If his arguments in court were as well constructed as his anti-evolution arguments, he'll get the chair.
