I don't know if it's SMF or something else, the button drawing when starting a new message seems a tad slower than on the older forum software, but it just may be the layout.  That one uses a bit more of a compact format than here.  Are there options for how the message posting window is laid out?

You  could try the other theme.

Even with the classic theme it takes a bit longer to draw all the buttons.  I'm guessing my connectivity between here and myself isn't as quick as the FSP forums which probably sit on a bigger pipe.  Not much of an issue really.
