QuoteYour statement that the landless would be forced to pay a tribute to landowners in an anarcho-capitalist system is factually incorrect.

if all land is legally occupied then one will either have to pay a tribute to landowners or be gifted the right to occupy land via charity.

neither of which fulfill the fundamental tenet of libertarianism - the absolute right of self-ownership.

a right does not have to be purchased or gifted.

Your original statement is incorrect, no matter how much you try to muddy the matter.

I have always stated that a right does not have to be purchased or gifted...do you believe that to be true?

This question is irrelevant to my point.

A property tax is not paying the government for owning the land, it is a tax (fee) for the services that your town/ state provide.  Every town employee is paid from property taxes.  This is how the streets get plowed and repaired, the water and sewer services if available  are provided (mine are not), the dump, schools, etc.   If one is not happy with any or all of the services the town or state provides, I strongly suggest that you seek out those individuals that share your same concerns in your community and participate in the selectman meetings and express your concerns.  If you are still not happy with members of a board, vote to remove them, or better yet, run for that office and if elected by the majority, you will have the opportunity to change your world.  In the mean time I certainly hope that you do not have any kids in the school system, drive on the roads, or receive any services from the town or state at any point in a given year, because property taxes are how these services are provided.  Property taxes are not capitalistic in nature, they are more social in nature because they provide sevices for you and your community.  Being PO'd @ the system will not make it better............ unfortunately you have to become part of the system to make it better for everyone. Vote and participate in communtiy service.  Go to meetings and voice your concerns.  It has taken our town close to a decade to get half of the unqualified public servants (I'll bet they couldn't even balance their own checkbook) out of office and we are continuing to work on the other half.  This half is bent on their own agenda and not for the good of the community.  Libertarians will expose the public servants who serve themselves.  I will have to agree with everyone - TAXES SUCK!  Especially for how these services are sometimes perveyed and rendered to the community.  Sometimes the tax payers feels like they are the goose being fattened for Foie Gras.  We cannot disolve the SYSTEM, but we can change it, and change takes time.

If people would only exercise their power of numbers.
I have said this again and will repeat:

Take a town of 20,000 people...
It has 13,00 registered voters...
But only 100 people show up at town meeting!
70 of them vote spending UP...
30 are helpless..

It is the VERY SAME people who would be the first to complain about their taxes who were ABSENT at this meeting.
If it means anything to them, they would hire a babysitter or drag the baby along with them and VOTE NO on everything.

Some people have no idea they can do this and need to be educated.
In a door to door campaign, some of us were met with hostility because they resented being told there was anything they could do. We politely told them that if they wanted to keep their taxes down, this was their civic duty.

Some just will never get it.

This is utterly senseless. What are these people thinking?! They complain about taxes, and then when an opportunity to do something presents itself, they're hostile to it? Are these people out of their MINDS?

I know, it does not make any sense. They will complain, cry poor, end up moving, look at you as if you just asked them to sacrifice their first born, but won't bother to get out and speak up FOR JUST ONE NIGHT and VOTE ON ONE DAY.

Many states would LOVE to have this opportunity that has been preserved in NH. Activating the numbers of people is what is the hard part.
