Wow.

1/3 of high school graduates never read another book for the rest of their lives.
42 percent of college graduates never read another book after college.
80 percent of U.S. families did not buy or read a book last year.
70 percent of U.S. adults have not been in a bookstore in the last five years.
57 percent of new books are not read to completion.
70 percent of books published do not earn back their advance.
70 percent of the books published do not make a profit.

That's a crying shame.

GUH.

Went to the website to look at the source... opened it in a tab, and it resized my friggin' browser!

I don't like maximized windows--I like to keep my websites contained horizontally.  It's easier to read that way.

Use Firefox, and then turn that annoying crap off.

1/3 of high school graduates never read another book for the rest of their lives. (since high school I've read nearly 3000 books)
42 percent of college graduates never read another book after college.  (since college I've read an average of 10 books a yr)
80 percent of U.S. families did not buy or read a book last year.
70 percent of U.S. adults have not been in a bookstore in the last five years. (hhmm  the last books I bought was over the net)
57 percent of new books are not read to completion.
70 percent of books published do not earn back their advance.
70 percent of the books published do not make a profit.

I wonder how may of the 1/3, 42%, 80%, and 70% are politicians?

I don't believe it. You'll have to convince me it is reliable.

I am using Firefox!

How do you turn off automatic window resizing?

error

I'll never be able to explain it in English, so I hope a picture is sufficient.

Those book stores look pretty busy to me.   Anyone here ever been polled about their reading habits?

I believe libertarians are notoriously bookish, speaking as one who has moved so many of them in  :o  :read2: :read:

After feeding the numbers through my SWAG-o-tron:

70 percent of U.S. adults have bought at least one book online in the last five years
57 percent of new books are boring
70 percent of books published can be found in public libraries
70 percent of the books published aren't worth buying

There are many good books out there, but also a lot of crap. Case in point: my favorite author, C.J. Cherryh, has written one series which I couldn't stand any more of a few chapters into the second book (the first book was horrifically dry, too)!

error

Indeed. The furniture is going, but I've got cases of books to move in with me!

Yes, I heard you were a bookish lass.  ;)

Hey, who's that reading the Playboy?
