Just talked to Senator Eaton and he says the thing that would be most helpful now is letters to the editor, as well as calls to the coucilors.

He was uncertain as to whether demonstrations would be helpful, so I suggest we "above all, do no harm."

Maybe he could be a guest on free minds tv?

also would be good if folks can call wkbk about it and get on the air (friday i think they let you pick the topic and they do on saturday before 9am...unless things have changed.

So no protests yet.  Here is the editorial I'll put in the paper:

The Keene City Council has demonstrated perfectly how government is violence and force and cannot be anything but violence and force.  After failing to get former Senator Thomas Eaton to voluntarily sell his land on Marlboro Street for the proposed roundabout, city officials are now resorting to the use of force to wrest the property from Mr. Eaton.  They are proposing to use eminent domain to take the property, whether Mr. Eaton wants this or not, giving him "fair market value" for the property.  But there is no fair market value for an item that you do not want to sell.  If someone takes your new baby by force and hands you "fair market value" for the child, are you getting a good deal?  A fair exchange can only happen when BOTH parties are willing to do the exchange.  Eminent domain is robbery, pure and simple.  Eminent domain uses tax money, taken from people by force, to do its stealing, so it is stealing two times over.

They're proposing to do this whether the people of Keene want a roundabout or not.  Councilor Parsells informs us that the public is either wrong or misinformed about the roundabout.  I guess we don't know our own minds and pocketbooks, eh?  Councilor Nathaniel M. Stout has stated that this project is essential.  Is someone going to die if a roundabout isn't built in Keene?  Are people suddenly going to be unable to travel through Keene if this roundabout isn't built?  I guess the biggest question is:  Who is going to make a lot of money when this roundabout is built?
