If you're in the UK, get out now while you still can.

If you are still carrying your "papers" with you, be sure to run the magnetic strip on the back over a strong magnet a few times, and black out the bar code.

As bad as it is here, they haven't exactly started cataloguing everyone, complete with fingerprints and DNA samples, just to get an ID card or even a passport.

That's just a more Orwellian step. As long as the ss number is 'required' you still can't get the documents...or leave the country.

Yes.  More and more you see them mentioned in the media.

You went through the front door.
Why not join the millions that come overland via the desert?

It's like the door in the middle of nowhere in those cartoons, except that there's inexplicably a line that extends for miles on one side of the door.

You kind of have to go through the front door when you are flying in from Europe and going through customs. This is how they treat tourists. It was bad before when you only had to fill out these stupid forms(Yes multiple forms  ::)) stating what you intended to do where you would be going and if you had any political questionable associations such as being or been a communist, nazi or whatever else of interest(Like someone actually would answer yes  ::)). Going through the toll-police is horrifying. With police all over the airport scanning, probeing, x-raying, questioning, lots of stamping forms and of course stamping forms, looking at passports and everything else takes a considerably long time(we are talking hours).

Being a tourist in USA isn't easy neither as their are checkpoints(Airport kind of treatement) all over cities but specially around tourists attractions which by the way aren't operating like they used to do before Y2k anyway(You can't climb up the statue of liberty anymore). It is ridiculus and the tourist volume shows they ain't happy spending their vacation in USA anymore. I can't blame them!

Yea supposedly the US is trying to speed up its visa processes or make it easier because it has lost 25% of its new immigrants, visitors, and foreign workers due to the new regulations after 9/11. If someone wants to go to North America, they just go to Canada now instead of the USA because it's easier and if you're European, they're basically interchangable.

The U.S. is not some single, volitional entity. It's a giant mass of bureaucracies, each full of people, all of whom have conflicting values, morals and goals, but virtually all of whom believe they rule us by right.

Some of these people actually want to make it harder for people to enter the U.S., by for instance, getting rid of the visa waiver program.
