I also thought of driving very slowly until they flipped out and cut me off, but Kat wasn't hip to the idea. He never ordered me to not drive away. He just kept asking. Both times I have been pulled over without a license I had women and children in the car. It cramps my smokey and the bandit style. :)

Take it from me with women and children in the car throws the balance off so you cant make the jumps properly  >:D

Russell,

Good on you! :clapping:

What about the registration issue? Is your car still registered?

Personally, I want some of those embassyofheaven plates, but without all the rigmarole of signing over the car to them. Come to think of it, the only reason my car is still registered is that the owner is listed as my old lady. Same goes for insurance.

Which brings me to my next question, if anyone knows: Will insurance pay a claim involving an unlicensed driver? I'm thinking it won't, which pretty much makes the policy a waste of money for insurance purposes, but it will lessen any eventual state levelled MV infractions in the wake of a stop, not that I'm concerned with that.

mkay, I'm done now.

There is no law requiring you to have car insurance in NH.

Good luck, Russell.

It looks like there will be plenty of opportunities for me to protest in NH...
;)

That car is registered to my families company in MT. I never offered paperwork.

I agree. I like a lot of what they do, but do they want you to sign it over to them?

The van is no longer registered in MT. I took off the plate and threw out the old paperwork. It has a Denver Broncos plate on it. I am looking for ideas for the best plate to show that we are doing civil disobedience in this regard.

Yep ... one less thing for them to ask about.

I think dumping your id is better than a protest.
I think talking to the police about freedom to travel is better than protesting.
But when other things are not available ... a protest can be a nice way to get out the word. :)

There is no law requiring you to have car insurance in NH.
But there is a law that requires you to show "Proof of financial responsibility".

I was reading the paper last week in Nashua(police blotter), and saw someone got busted for driving without proof of financial responsibility.

I have some green and white plates that say "LINUX", with the state motto above it "live free or die", but they do not have NH or new hampshire on them anywhere. I had them on my unregistered pickup, but I don't have it anymore.  I will hook you up with a couple if you want.

They look like this:

Lloyd Danforth

Just an aside and no offense to MD, but, when he returns after an absence, I think about what, at least tv cops do when a serial crime that stopped for a while, starts up again.  They look for people recently released from Prison.
Now he shows up with what look like real DMV plates!

Uh...........that would be mandatory insurance. Unless you could prove a $75,000 escrow account.

I tried the jedi mind trick and it didn't work.

I am going to need to see your license...
I just want to go home.
Yea I know, but I have to see your papers...
but I don't have any of those ... so how about you just let me leave?
Everyone has a ssnumber...
     I don't .... I don't want one of those.
But I need to see your license...
I don't ask for things like that.
How do you drive around?...
the car works just fine ... I just drive.
I request that you not leave...
but I would rather go home.
If you try to leave this night will get much worse for you...
why can't you just let me go?

It didn't work.

Hilarious.  You're a man of principle, and you have my respect.

Could you give me an honest assessment of how much of a PITA it is to just go paperless?  How much extra hassle is it, and what can they really DO about it?

It's potentially a lot of extra hassle, and they can kill you.
