Less than 24 hours in Iraq and he's leading house raids as a PFC?

That really sets off my BS detector. Sounds like another Jesse Macbeth.

I believe Joshua Keys.  Apparently, so does Grove Press, which is reissueing his book in two months.  Somehow I doubt they'd do so without verifying the specifics of his story.

Say hi to the prisoners for me!     And when you cash that next paycheck... you're welcome!!   :D

Now where's that ignore button?  I've never actually done this before...

The bit about the rape doesn't really pass the smell test, either. If they're so worried about getting in and out quickly to avoid an enemy response, why wouldn't they do that some other time?

Though his descriptions about how raids are conducted sound pretty reasonable- that's only a step below the paramilitary police raids we have here in the US.

Skepticism is good- there are plenty of people out there who are willing to twist and distort the truth to further their political views, including plenty of people trying to further political views we agree with. You should apply critical reasoning to everything and everyone, especially people who are on "your side". I'm not just talking about this guy, I mean in general.

As for this specific guy's story- I wouldn't be too surprised to find that he's exaggerated a bit. I'm sure he's had to fight to stay in Canada, so he has every motivation to do so. Just like Ed Brown and his... eccentricities, I agree this guy is doing the right thing by refusing to participate in the war, but that doesn't mean his word is the gospel truth.

From what I read, it doesn't sound like anyone is being accused by name in this book, so there aren't any "specifics" to verify, and no consequences if the whole thing turns out to be false.

But maybe your vast military experience leads you to a different conclusion, and you've seen PFCs with six months in the Army, and less than 24 hours in Iraq, leading house raids.

...and Lincoln

It's a damnable succession of warmongers, of both parties, who all ignored the sage advice of "trade with all, and entangling alliance with none."
