I support Dave Ridley, and stand by him in his fight against the federal government, and the IRS.
Dave walked into an IRS office in Nashua, New Hampshire back in September and handed out paper flyers to government workers that questioned their morality in regards to working for an institution that funds waste and torture.
His actions were peaceful, and his papers harmless.
He then left when asked to do so.
Later, Homeland Security charged him with the "crime" of "Distribution of Handbills", and fined him $125 dollars.
To this day, Dave has refused to pay this ridiculous fine, and why should he?
The first amendment of the Constitution of the United States (In fact, the first ten Amendments collectively are known as the Bill of Rights) states that:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
The Constitution not only gives Dave the right to hand out peaceful flyers, but supports him as well.
There is no such crime as Distribution of Handbills.
If the flyers were threatening or if Dave entered the building by illegal means, then there would have been a crime(s), and even then, the distribution of handbills would not have been one of those crimes unless there was a notice in clear site saying not to do so.
However, Dave did not commit a crime in any manner.
Homeland Security is full of bs.
If it was a crime to pass out flyers or handbills on government property, then the United States Armed Forces would be breaking the law because any person can see Armed Forces literature in almost any post office.
When I say breaking the law I mean one of two things:
Either the Armed Forces posted their flyers without proper permission and broke the law by doing so, or they had proper permission and the government broke the law by denying Dave his equal right to do the same thing.
So this fine is an illegal fine, and Dave should not have to pay it.
On January 8th, 1993, I dressed to look like Elvis Presley and entered the Concord, New Hampshire Post Office.
It was the first day of the new Elvis Stamp.
I was a big hit, and had a great time of it.
The post office personnel even invited me to work behind the counter for an hour.
I handed out stamps and took money.
I was not a post office employee.
In fact, someone from the Concord Monitor took my picture doing so, and it was on the Monitor's front page the next day.
If Dave Ridley was given a fine for giving out flyers in a government building, then how come I was not fined for doing what I did?
I handled money, stamps, even licked them, and signed my name for many people as Elvis Presley.
It is clear that I did far worse than Dave did when he entered a government building.
After all, I just walked in and did what I wanted.
Maybe Dave should have dressed like Elvis.
The fact is, the government will allow some things and not others based on what free speech they think is right.
And that is wrong.
On March 12, 2007, I was driving into Concord and saw the protest in front of the court house in support of Dave.
I had to stop for a minute, introduce myself, and shake a couple of hands.
One of the people I met was Lauren Canario.
I wanted to meet her because she stands for people's freedom.
So does Dave.
I could not join the protest because I had other commitments, and could not make it.
Maybe next time.
When I was done for the day, I passed a sign along a road that read: Join The Army.
My advice to the many young people out there is ....
Don't serve your country, because your country is NOT serving you!
Well they do serve you, except it is with a fine.
So I support Dave Ridley 100 percent.
In defiance of the government,
I am,

Thanks Russell.
I changed it here.
I knew that it was the Nashua IRS, but somehow put Keene down instead.
Thanks for the alert.

The main reason I am convinced that nonviolent, civil disobedience works, or at least has the highest potential to work.   :)  The judges may compare Dave to Ed Brown, but anyone else outside of gov't, can see the obvious difference.
